Seat Help
I have a seat in direr need to be thown out a window and never sat upon again. However I do not have the money to buy
a newer comfortable substitute. so my question is How do I fix this one to make it a little more inviting to sit on for say longer then an hour the seat is stock off a 02 HD sportster . I read some wheres online about taking the cover off and inserting memory foam, has anyone here done this ? the seat pan itself seems to be plastic , I am thinking a traditional staper would do the job to re tact the cover when putting it back together |

The seat pans are plastic like you said. If your ass hurts that bad then operate on it as you have nada to lose. Get some foam, an electric knife and a sander and your can shape your own pad. Far as covering it I dont imagine you can build it up much but better foam should help. Try a piece of sheepskin from a old seat cover and make a cover, that will cool your buns too.

ny experience with upholstery shops is that they don't have good foam... go figger. I've done a couple... tons of stuff on the net. Mostly get a good electric knife, cut & paste, then sit on it for a while. repeat as necessary.

I asked around and found an upholstery shop that does custom work for classic cars and bikes.
He fixed my old softail seat from a 30 miler into a 500+. Cost about $120 though and he shaped it to my backside. Set the saddle up on a saw horse, had me sit and he traced, cut, sit again, etc... was money well spent. Probably more than you want to spend though. |
