82 GL500 for sale 30 miles from Colorado Springs.
This is the bike I went to see today. I told the owner I'd put some notes up for him. He said he could come down to $1800.
The Little Lady has to go. Got laid off and need to get rid of some of the toys. This is a sweet, smooth, agile, quiet ride. She has almost 24,000 miles. Comes with a buddy seat, or you can take it off and put on the trunk if riding alone. For those that don't know, this was the last year they made the 500 Silverwing. I can not find anything wrong with this cycle. Great for city commuting. $2000 or best offer. 719-689-2350 Keith I remove all ads once the items have been sold. So if you see this ad, it's still for sale. ![]()

These people are asking crazy money; there've always been plenty of CXs and GLs around here for $500-$750. The bikes really are the "Ford Escorts" of motorcycles between their modest performance and the fact that Honda made/sold a million of them. I honestly don't see how anyone can reasonably expect more than $1000--let alone $2K--for an average, good, or even a very good, example.

I guess it's supply and demand. It's hard enogh to find a dedicated street bike instead of dirt or dual sport bikes for reasonable money. Unless it's a Harley or some other big touring bikes, they are few and far between.
Check craig'slist for Colorado Springs or Pueblo, CO. Denver may have more selection but I haven't seen it. Quote:

Nah, I hawked CL for almost a year to find one that didn't rattle and smoke, and one with a working stator.
Kinda rare in these parts.

I bought a 78 CX 500 for $500 when I lived in Bradenton, FL. in 1996. Sold it 2 years later for $350 and the stator was shot. Yes, I told him about the problem.

I bought my CX500 for $350 and the stator was shot. That seller said "needs nothing" but at that price I didn't really believe him. Sent the stator to Rick's Motorsport Electrics and it's been reliable ever since.

My sister was given (for free) a 1981 GL500 with well over 100K miles on it. The owner said his riding days were over so he'd let it go. He had stored it by draining the carbs and removing the battery, so it only took a new batt. and fresh gas and a little starting fluid and we had her running in about 20 minutes.
She rode it for a couple of years with absolutely NO problems, not even new plugs--NOTHING. Never burned out a lightbulb in two years. She sold it for $1000 and applied that toward the purchase of a creampuff newer CB750 (can't remember the exact model, about a '94) Anyway I thought that hi-miler Honda was one of the better deals I've seen in quite awhile. It had enough power to run 80mph with no problem, and it got around 50+mpg as well. Not bad. |

cx500 forum suspended
Umm, anyone know any thing or anyone with the CX500forum? All I'm getting is an "account suspended" message. I thought maybe it was me, so I logged in with a different computer and got the same message. 2 computers, 2 different ISP's or whatever they are called, right? I didn't know if I had violated a forum rule or something. I guess it's sit back and wait to see what happened.
