I received your IICE Air just now. I plugged it into itself and it didn't light up. So the batteries must be dead. I'll get right on that! . (Just kidding!)

I'll plug it into my bike today and go for a run.

More later

For those of you who don't know, Mouthfulloflake was having some issues with his bike. And to eliminate the possible influence of a defective product I got it back from him to test it out.

Here's what I found. The Air tests out just fine, and is working properly. There is a slight trace of dielectric grease on the electrical contacts. I remember someone mentioning that they applied some dielectric grease to the contacts, I don't remember if that was you. Either way, I did not observe any effect from the slight residual contamination.

The dielectric grease is green in color and I initially thought it was copper oxide on the electrical contacts. There is very little on there. Looking at it under high magnification showed it was a grease compound of some sort. I rubbed a tiny speck of a sample between my fingers and it feels like a silicone not petroleum based product. Like I said though, The Air passed the tests, and works right on the bike.

So here's what I want to try. I would like to send your IICE Air up to JJ for another bike test input, and he'll forward it to you. What do you think, would that be ok? I would send it out tomorrow to Seattle.

It wasnt me that put anything on those connectors BTW.

I bought the bike used a few years ago, lord only knows what it went through before that.

you mentioned at one time my bike possibly having an aftermarket eprom in the morotronic box.

would I still have lean surge issues with the rose colored plug in that scenario?

also, you asked me to unplug the IAT and run it and see what happens, I have yet to do that, but I will certainly try that if it wont harm anything else on the bike?

Thanks for your input a few posts back, Roger.

To add one thing. (And if I remember right from some of your other posts.) That set of readings were taken with a 'reset' ECU. You know, disconnect the battery.

A 'reset' ECU is different than ongoing operation. After dozens of heat up/cool down cycles of normal operation, the ECU eventually adjusts the long-term trim settings from initially operating without an O2 sensor.

Fortunately, the above doesn't apply to Open Loop operation , which is where the Air and Cool do their stuff.

Yes, you're right, with a reset Motronic. As long as the O2 sensor were never reconnected, the graphs below would continue to apply because no new Closed Loop factors could be generated.

Ok Quality Control Checks A thru G all performed and passed.

But I KNOW it's working because the YEEEEEE HAAAAAW Factor is in full effect.

So just what is the YEEEEEE HAAAAAAW factor you ask?

Well when you whack open the throttle, the front tire has difficulty staying on the ground in 1st & 2nd gear.

Now that can be done when you deliberately set it up, you get the rpms just right and roll on the throttle just so, but this is different. It happens all the time, just because.

It'll be in the mail tomorrow winging its way back to you. It's work'n just like it's supposed to.

Well that's good. We got that much sorted out.

Mouthfulloflake, does your 1100 have the Rider Information Display? The RID was optional on the 1100 if I remember right.

Hey there, Roger. I understand you think that's how it works. Can we leave it at that please.

You're quoting me out of context is getting a little tedious.
