Looking at at 1994 BMW R100RT with 25k miles

I always loved the looks of this bike. A little nervous about concidering a 18 year old bike. Anything I should look out for? Are there any real drawbacks of an airhead? Thanks in advance

Oh No, it's 18 years old. I guess I should scrap my 23 year old bike as it must be way too old.........

The newer Airheads have better brakes and suspension. You don't have to work on them as much .

Great, thanks so much. So a 1994 model (that I'm considering) would be considered newer, correct?

OK, thank you letting me know. Was not aware of this section. I will re-post there. This was very helpful information (unlike Mrs. Sno-where)

The newest were made in 1995. If it looks ok, rides ok and sounds ok, it's likely ok. See if there's a complete service history with it, look over that carefully.

As already stated, 1995 was the last airhead - the newest you'll find. Hard to get much newer than a 94!

Quite a few of us tour on bikes much older than that. My two favorites right now are a 77RS with 143K on the clock and an 83LS. Just a couple months ago I rode the 77 to the bay area and back - probably about 1400 miles. It rained most of the way there, and it could have been waay more miserable had it broken down, but that thought didn't even enter my conciousness. Of course it was going to be fine - as always.
