Thanks for the kind words (everyone).
I went fishing and shooting up highlight canyon one day and didn't catch anything. We hit up the Gallitan on Saturday. I'm waiting on photos from my friend Jeff Hawe.

So, I'm sitting here in Duluth with time to kill cuz we just got 7 inches of rain and the town is floating away, reading about this guy from Tofte, MN, of all places, and I figure out he is Jan and Kathy's kid, from Cobblestone Cabins! Cool, knew your parents way back in the 70's, even before they got married, playing volleyball at the GM high school, and then would bump into them at ski races all the time and here and there. And you got a great trip. Keep up the news and say hi to the folks from Lance Swanson

I'm in Grand Marais right now about to tear into the KTM. I rode the Aprilia yesterday for the first time in 9 months. I forgot how ridiculous that motard is. Did you get delayed by the washouts in the Yukon?

PS. And I realize I have to catch up on my posts.. Mt, wy, sd, mn... SOON! I PROMISE!

Saw some very cool waterfalls that I missed on the way into the camp site. 2 sunny days in a row. WTF? I had to go to Olympia to get fitted for a Gerbing heated jacket liner for the way up to AK. They didn't have my size in stock but a place in Seattle did. I picked that up a few days later after going around the Olympic peninsula. North of Aberdeen, WA, 101 splits away from the coast. 109 is a 2 lane black top that hugs the coast and ends abruptly in Toholah in the Quinault Indian Reservation. The GPS and Google showed dirt roads connecting to 101 so I thought I would give it a shot. I made it until I was 5 miles from 101 and there were some signs that said "Quinault Tribe members only" so it would be best to turn around. Back tracked to Pacific beach to camp the night in a very windy spot. Still a great view though.

Scary bridge in the Quinault reservation. I had to cross the thing 2 times.

BUmmer you turned around. I actually spent a day driving around that reservation. Ended up in an indian burial ground, crossed that bridge as well as a few other sketchy ones in my 3/4 ton van but ended up connecting to 101. I think the signs are there to keep the average joe out so that people don't start traipsing around the reservation on Sunday drives. Beautiful area though if not a little eerie.

Glad to hear you made it back to MN safely and hope the remainder of your trip continues smoothly. Perhaps we will cross paths next summer as there is a group of us planning to participate in the Mongol Rally!!
