But the longer a thread like this is allowed to continue, the worse it is for everyone.

I'm a loyal KTM Talk lifetime member.
I'm also a loyal ADV member.

Each has tremendous strengths and I have countless positive stories about help and good people I've met on each site. We are all so lucky to have these rescources that bring us closer together, allow us to share knowledge and experience, and give us power in numbers.

KTM Talk gave me the confidence to go orange 10 years ago.
Adventure Rider gave me the confidence to go with the big orange twin.

Thanks to all the cool people that make these places what they are.

Small post count, big post. Well said.

I would like to understand why the Google search is disabled on KTMTalk. I could care less about my post count (case in point on this forum), but I frequent KTMTalk to find good tech info for my RFS. But with a gazzillion posts over 10+ years, the forum search tools are lacking. It's not that I can't find what I need, but more of an efficiency issue. I use Google searching for all the forums I frequent, but I found it to be a huge loss that KTMTalk has somehow rendered that inoperable.

What's the reasoning?

Out of fairness....

Out of fairness to KTMTALK, I have to add a few comments to set my previous comments into perspective: Yes, KTMTALK is more disciplined, less fluff, more ON topic. I, too have gathered a great deal of info about the LC4 and made a few friends over there, but here, too. 990: not so much from KTMTALK. Just because there is more info and participation at ADV on OC.

Before, (page 1 of this thread) I was just kidding around with a little truth mixed in. Pat has taken on a tremendous task, and I, among others are eternally grateful for his continued work. It's kinda like going to San Jose or some other big city with your kids for the first time: "why are there all of these medians on all the streets, Daddy?" ...."to help control all of the traffic they have here, son."

All of that being said, now I hope Patrick will let me back in, as I'm getting a 450.......

And, I don't know why google search is disabled either......

Take care and laters......

To answer the original question, Yes! There will be others who believe the site is too difficult, useless, etc. I visit it often and spend some time here as well. For me, KTMTalk has been wonderful for resolving bike setup, issues, etc. I have noticed a higher level of decency among the KTMTalk visitors as well. I must admit, have seen way more bad language and personal attacks on ADVRider than KTMTalk. Would be nice if people would show each other a little respect and leave the bad language and attacks out of their posts...

My two cents worth

I wouldn't mind that actually. A lot of the forums I used to freqiuent, posts on topics which were really important (someone asking for help or someone else taking a lot of time writing long, detailed, and excellent posts about how-to something-or-other) would get thread-jacked by retards fucking around. You'd have to read through 2 pages of utter dribble in between the decent posts. Several Aussie forums I know of suffered this fate, and all the competent riders I know through 'the community' all quit those sites because the signal-to-noise ratio got out of control.

I think your post has probably convinced me KTM Talk might be the right site for me to use as a resource for my RFS (06 525 EXC)
