this is a great idea. a really great idea
love to see this turn in to a state by state list or regions maybe become a header thread in trip planning I will add some as soon as i research the links. have done all my road trip with staying at hotels or BB. the best place is where you can park bike and have dinner and the breakfast at same place or a short walk to near by resturant or pub. after 300 plus miles I just want get out of riding gear take a shower put reg clothes and have a nice meal and drink or two or more then walk back to room. wake up rinse and repeat

I thought it was a general question. I take lots of coast/coast trips and when I saw the name of the thread I just picked the place that stands out. I don't think I've ever stayed at a particularly special bike friendly place in New England. I'll have to look at the results here more carefully. Maybe I can build a weekend trip or something around some of these places.I have a trip scheduled to Roanoke in a couple weeks. I'm going to need a place in DC and maybe Gettysburg too.

I have been a bit tardy, but it's now added to the OP. Levain, thanks for staying on top of things and keeping the map up to date! And a bump for the thread.

I've added Steinhofs Sportsmans Inn and the Hungry Trout. Both in Wilmington, NY. DISCLAIMER: As of this post, I have not stayed at either of these, but they are hosting the Empire state Motomarathon next month. They must be at least accomodating, and Steinhofs has a Pub

Eddington House Inn in North Bennington VT
http://www.eddingtonhouseinn.com My wife and I based a long weekend of riding out of there. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. The owner is awesome and makes a great breakfast every morning.

Please Contribute!
Please contribute your finds.
To remind you, we are looking for: - no campsites; that is a separate topic, well covered on ADVrider. - decent quality (please, no places where you'd be afraid to walk barefoot on the floor - BTDT): from mid-range up to upscale. - restaurant/bar on site or within walking distance. Once I have my gear off, I don't want to suit up for dinner. Plus, I like my alcohol in the evening: no riding afterwards. - nice atmosphere a plus. It would be nice if other motorcyclists frequented the place - but, not hardcore one-percenters / wannabees. There are a few "biker-taverns" where I live and, boy, I do find them really scary. - secure parking for motorcycles (backyard, shed, etc). Just reply in this thread and I'll update listings in the original post. Levain is maintaining a map of the locations. The list is growing in size, thankfully, and I will re-sort it - either alphabetically or by region, not sure yet what's most convenient.

The Gables Inn, Stowe, VT -- the owners, Randy and Annette, are avid motorcyclists themselves and are very welcoming of motorcycle guests. They're also open to anyone for breakfast, and they do it very, very well!
http://www.gablesinn.com/ By the way, a suggestion: organize the initial post by state, then alphabetically by town. That will make it much easier to find info for people planning a trip. --mark
