TKC80 Front wheel balance question

Hi

Just had a front TKC80 mounted to the stock rim on my 2006 KTM950 with an UHD tube.

It took 3oz to balance it, 6x1/4oz squares on each side. 12 total

On the rear K60 Scout for comparison they used 7 squares total for 1 3/4oz

Is this amount of weight normal, seems there was less than that on the front before with the previous tire. What is a normal range, or what would be considered too much?

Would ensuring the light spot is lined up with the valve help, as I'm not sure this was done.

Just trying to decide whether I should take it back and have it remounted and rebalanced to see if they could drop some weight if they rotated the tire, or just forget about it and ride it. Seems OK riding so far, just think its a lot of weight

Thoughts?

My TKC always took a lot of weight on my old 950, but I generally didn't balance the ones I spooned on myself. I never noticed an issue.

I think I have six or seven, 7g weights on the front (tkc-80, stock rim, UHD tube). I've seen tires take as little as 3 weights, and as many as two sticks of 7 or 8 weights. Depends on the wheel, tube, and balance of the tire.

Thanks, should mention I also have a UHD tube in there as well.

Seems this might be normal, thanks for the input so far

Balancing

Line the dot up with the valve stem . If you have a rim lock should be opposite the valve stem., if the holes are drilled right. JMHO !!!!

+1.

My TKC80 front took no weight to adjust. I changed this one at home and lined the dot with the stem.

My K60 needed half a box of weight! The dot was not lined up with the stem by the shop so they added a bunch of weight to compensate. Would lining the dot up save some added weight? Yes. But a balanced wheel is a balanced wheel so I didn't go back. The less time my bike is in their amatuer hands the better.

Now that I've figured out how to get the 150 rears off the bead I'll be changing the rears at home also.
