All Around Previous Gen Device Advice
I am looking for a good all-around road trip, trail, get me home from wandering device that I can mount to my motorcycle. Waterproof, glove friendly and easy to use. I've thought about, and almost bought, a Montana and other latest and greatest devices, but the price killed it. I tried using my iPhone, but honestly...it sucks. Half the time I can't see the screen or it shuts off because of heat. In a car it would be fine, on a bike it's not so fine. I am looking to get a good used device or new cheaper...like $200-$250 range.
There are a few that I am thinking about, but rather then muddy the waters I'll just throw it out there and keep it open. Thanks! DAVE

For your budget and wanted features, you are looking at a hand held.
Look at 76Cx from WestMarine.com at $150 when on sale which is very often.

Garmin 76Cx @ West Marine is $150 brand new. It's ugly (IMHO, of course) but it's reliable, albeit now somewhat dated technology. I use a Oregon 450 and really like it, but it's another $100 or so.
Maps, mount, etc. all are extra, so factor those into your buy-in costs.

I have a decent universal mount, so thats not a problem. Between the two, I think the Oregon has a better screen for navigating? That might be worth the extra $ and still be "budget" conscious..maybe. I will look closer at those two.

Is the 60CSX too old of a unit at this point to be compared with the two listed above?

I never bothered with the 60/76 series and went directly to the Oregon (before the Montana was released)

The Montana is very nice and very nicely out of my budget. The more I look into the Oregon, the more I like its options. Not the latest and greatest, but very nice none the less. I think I can find an Oregon 450 for about $250 but do have to get a street level maps. I little more then I was thinking, but for what it is, it seems like a very good deal to me.
