It really looks to me more than 120,000 or the Speedo/odo was discoed. That would explain it. People try stuff like this all the time. My brother went to look at an off road machine that had less than 10 K on it. I noticed the underside was half worn away with scrapping. It's why the advice to check the records is repeated so much.

I inquired on the G/S-

where was this bike stored if it has such low miles??? I'm looking at your photos, the bike looks well worn, particularly the rust on the exhaust, and pulse air. Plus the amount of oxidation on the engine, and all the scratches. Looks like it's been out side for quite a while.

no reply yet..I wonder why??? BIN is $7,500 whew!!!!!

Mine had 21K miles on it when I bought it and looked WAY worse than that eBay one.... yes to a fork rebuild, final drive rebuild, trans rebuild as well as exhaust valve guides...

Low miles don't really mean much when you are talking about a thirty year old BMW...

People need to get their heads round the fact that BMW speedos go back to zero after 99999 miles and that 20,000 could easily be 120k or 220k.

It is also very easy to wind back a BMW speedo, I might have been guilty of that 30 years ago.

In the UK all vehicles have an annual MOT inspection after 3 years, as part of this process mileage is recorded and can help give some support to mileage claims, but tuts nothing when it comes to vehicles!

I contacted the "junk moto parts" seller and requested the actual "Buy It Now" price for the $1700.00+ transmission, stating that he obviously had made a mistake in his listing.

Looking at Max' BMW parts catalog the stock tank is still available, in primer, for $1193.32. That makes an NOS tank, painted, for $1582 not that bad of a deal. If you're looking to do a restoration, that is.
