In case the link doesn't work:
Go to Advance adaptors website & see how much an adapter is for the 4L80 to whatever transfer case he has, the 400 may be cheaper initially, but it'll cost more in the long run. You may need to buy a transmission from a 4 wheel drive GM, some can be adapted as is, others need the 4 wheel drive tail stock & output shaft. You have to make a mount for the Xfer case, the existing transmission mount may be adaptable. As for your steering, it should be a fairly simple cross over setup. After you mount the transfer case, you'll need custom shafts made up. Talk to a driveline specialty shop first. They may be able to modify used shafts for considerably less that new custom made.

Just noticed the ad, Advrider is having issues at the moment. Rear suspension looks like it'll either need new springs to equal front lift, or you may have to go S.O.A.

Also make sure rear axle has the same bolt pattern or wheels are gonna be a bitch.

Not really If one transitions from a small car to that, it might feel spacious. But you can't go from a van to an Element- my wife says that she feels like calling me in the E350 if she's in the back
She has an Element, without the conversion thingy. I don't want to bash someone elses's idea, but, the Element is fine as it is for sleeping inside. Having the extra space above is not much of a help given that when we camped with ours had a box on top and the inside was empty for sleeping, Now, if Honda made them bigger so you can walk inside, we might include them in this thread

PS. one can fit a bike inside, so it's a van...

It's worth the salvage parts alone, no more. I won't go into the details of what's got to be done to that vehicle or unfinished projects prices in general. But all the hard / major things have still got to be done to that project, so :-
You are buying a scrap van (no front suspension or working engine), a used dana 60 axle (no mention on where it came from or condition) and a transfer case that may or may not have the parts to fit the box. At absolute most maybe 1~1.5k.

where were those photos taken, especially the ones with the van right near the water. I want to camp someplace like that with my dogs.

Pic #1, that small bridge that crosses the river, is the Eel River right off of Avenue of the Giants. Very close to "Pepperwood,CA" on google maps, there is a dirt path down to the river. There is a rocky road that runs along the river, I think it'd be a great place to camp.

The last picture was taken in Topaz Lake, NV, right off of Topaz Park Dr, another dirt path that heads down to the river. It'd be less secluded here as there are houses nearby.
