But it cooled down and works fine.

Back in the NW and enjoying being home. Giving my friend a tour of the area as we are now up in Washington on Whidbey Island :)

Started out with a drive up around Mt Saint Helens....



But unfortunately the Windy Ridge road was closed

So we explored around the National park, saw some cool waterfalls.





Even saw some snow.....



Water was really cold.... But she wanted to wade in and give it a try.



Clear and cold!!



Then took the drive up to Paradise..... Mt Rainer was beautiful!!



On the drive, taking in the freedom of speech along the way.



And some more of nature!

It is amazing touring around your hometown state. Incredible place to grow up!



After a drive through the parks, it is time to get up to Whidbey Island. Staying up here for a few days.

Stopped for a great lunch on Lake Union.

My GS is in the shop for a final drive seal and to rebuild the rear shock Blew it out on my ride down to California. My car is in the shop for new struts and an oil leak

yikes being home has all the realities of the costs of life. Feels very different from being on they road. More Later!

Great photos of the beautiful PNW with mountain beauty that rivals anywhere else in the world...right in your own backyard. Totally envious

It really is amazing to be back in the areas I grew up. Spent summers with my family on the southern tip of Whidbey Island. I have many great family memories of time spent here. Sand, water and the simpler days spent swimming, clamming, crabbing, building sand castles etc!!

Of course there is also sadness at the loss of my parents and grandparents over my lifetime that also comes back as I am surrounded by life here. We spread the ashes of both my parents out in the waters of Cultus Bay in front of our summer home. Their final resting place of their lives that ended too soon for any of us!

But taking time to slow down and enjoy the flowers!

Spent some time wandering around the town of Langley. The economy has taken a toll on the businesses in town as many available for lease signs up, making the main street a bit sad. But other shops seem to be doing ok. Had a great conversation with the owner of the Glass blowing shop.



Loved the rocket ship out front with glass flames....



Having some Lunch in town



Views out over Camano Island, and Cascade Mountains...





And then watching sunset over the Puget sound and Olympic mountains from the beach in front of our house
