The edges are rough, and the inside lip at the top is downright ugly, I was considering cutting it out, but looking at the construction it is clear that that is the strength behind it, so no can do.

That being said I find it to be excellent in all conditions, like the look (carbon screen on black 990) and it is leaps and bounds beyond the stock screen.

On future 990s I will definitely add it again.

Oh crap! Anybody else run into this issue? I just ordered all the crap from Touratech to put my Zumo on top of the dash.

FWIW, my Rally Raid fairing came pretty well polished. I have no complaints about the quality of the work. Yes the backside looks unfinished but that doesn't bother me at all, I'm not staring at the back of the fairing while I'm on the road.

if you were just a bit closer - I would let you try mine - maybe for good ?

it was almost the same as stock for me - stretch up a bit and clean air
or tuck down a bit and you get into the "bubble" - but some buffeting
the thing might put me into clean air if I was another 2 inches taller - but then I would be
a basketball player ? - maybe a taller seat would help - what to do !
with the funky lip on the rally raid screen it can't be cut down -so I am back to the stocker and a cut job ?

If you want it, get it

I read through this post several times before I decided to give one a try. When it came I was happy to see that the "unfinished" back side wasn't all that bad. I didn't find any problems with my GPS either. The finish on the edges wasn't a big deal for me, it was cleaner than I was lead to believe when I read through here. Not perfect, but pretty damn good.

After over 1,000 miles with it, I can state I like it a lot better than the stock windscreen.

Based on everything I have read and all the work I have done with stock screens and C Bailey, this appears to be no better than the cut down screen. Think I will save the money and keep that one on.

Yes I sure wish I could try it. Have you gone back to the stocker?

I am going to see if I can find a used one in the flea market...

I stated I had over 1,000 miles on mine. That pretty much sums up all sorts of riding conditions; but then again off road the "wind turbulance" issues really aren't that much of a problem are they?

My personal specs are that I am 5' 10" tall (with a taller upper body and shorter legs). The stock windscreen really wasn't that much of an issue for me other than a lot of helmet noise from the air rushing over. For my sake, the noise has reduced a little. I never had, with either the stock windscreen or the Rally Raid windsceen, any "head banging" issues or complaints. But then again, I never expected to have Gold Wing comfort on my KTM either. YMMV

If you're still not sure, I did take a long road trip (three days) and documented it here in the Day Trippin' section if you're curious where I went... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=707781

SierraJeep: He was referring to my totally useless post.

6'1". 33" inseam. Secondary hardtop, interstate, and gravel/dirt. Low Touratech seat. I didn't have a problem below 40 MPH with the stocker.

Personally, I don't care what it looks like... I have air and it's not popping/rocking my Arai XD around. After spending the better part of 400 bucks trying to fix this... I'm happy.

Big Improvement

I got a black gloss (thanks but no on "carbon look"), to bad no blue. That would have been nice. Looks much nicer than the weathered smoke lexan/polycarb/whatever of the aging stock one.

My ethos must be slightly different than many. The fit is quite good, but not perfect, no problem there. I kind of like the unfinished back. Kind of a privateer vibe to it. Sliding this pig around to get it oriented properly for a gut busting pick-up/restart has somewhat compromised the concourse de elegance look of the bike overall. But it still runs great, and I still smile virtually EVERY time I get on it.

I'm 6' and ride with an Arai XD. No signigicant reduction in noise, but definitely smoother air flow. No buffeting or bobbleheading as the reviewer on the KTM Twins site said). Probably not significantly different from a cut down stock, but it looks pretty damn good.

Good product, reasonable price (although I wish I got it for $85).

Carbon windshield - garage made :-)

I was playing a bit during winter, but it took a little more time than expected, but here we go:

Carbon fiber windschield - my garage production
It is aprox. 2 cm lower than original one, but as it is more steep, the wind protection is better.

If you like it, I can do one for you.

cheers
