Don't suppose anyones got a real weight for the XR600R? Manual states a 284lb (128kg) dry weight, guessing that makes it around 140kg wet?
Cheers - boingk

2007 KTM 950 Super Enduro
The place where my brother works has digital scales on the loading dock, supposedly accurate to 1/10th pound.
I rolled my SE on the scale wet (with just over 5 gallons of gas in the 7.9-gallon Safari tank), Garmin 2610 GPS in RAM mount, stock took kit, passenger pegs installed, CJ Racer aluminum rear plate, Cycra Pro Bend hand guards and Wings Titanium cans... 452.3 pounds. For general riding around I usually have a Wolfman tail bag on the rear rack and carry compressor, extra tubes, tire changing tools, still and video (helmet) cams and a few other items. Loaded, this bag added 22.1 pounds to the total.

I weighed my 2002 KTM 400EXC a couple days ago.
125f/131r for a total of 256. That was with a bit less than half a tank of gas - so maybe upper 260's full. That was with a skidplate and handguards but otherwise stock. Oops - chain was off at the time as well.

Stock DRZ400E with a 28l tank fully fueled came in at 160kg.
![]() The Dakar with small luggage racks (no luggage obviously), crash bars, RHS exhaust full of tools and YZ front end was 220kg.

I was hot for a KTM 450EXC but need to pay off some credit cards first. I'll follow your trail exploits.

Cool thread,.. but kind of depressing regarding all the overweight bikes. I've been a weight weenie all my life and always have some kind of hybrid/custom lightweight bike. Right now I ride a plated XR650R that weighs 275 wet/no gas. I've got arthritis and carpal tunnel so even that is too much for my weak wrists these days so its for sale. because I built something lighter
![]() The bike below is a modified BBR framed XR200 that used cr85 suspension and wheels. I laced up some full size trials wheels and extended the swingarm so its now the same size as an XR200 but it weighs just under 192 lbs full of gas or about 30 lbs less than the lightest 125 on the list. It has a Powroll stroker 218 motor, MX suspension and brakes and is street legal. It can embarass pretty much anything in the tight woods and with the 6 speed wide ratio trans will cruise 55 without stress. I think its the best bike Honda never built. Ironicly its 95% stock Honda parts bolted to a custom frame, something Honda could have easily done.

More pics of the lightweight needed! That would be a FUN ride on the trails!
Where do you live that you can legalize them so easy?

I live in Michigan, the 650 is fully legal, the 200 is marginal
. Here's a few more pics. Its an experiment that went extremely well. I wanted to see if a sub 200 lb bike was possible and everything about it far exceeded my expectations. The extreme lightness changes everything. The super torquey 218 stroker motor, long travel and trials tire combined with the light weight puts it in a whole different category. The BBR frame is acually pretty heavy so I'm building the second generation frame and will also refine the ergos at the same time. My hope is to offer frame kits to accept stock honda parts and the xr200 or crf230 engines. It weighs 183 lbs, no gas now and I'm shooting for 175 - 180 lbs with full size wheels, adult ergonomics and race quality suspension. At 275 lbs I may have the lightest 650 around but the little XR is another 92 lbs lighter yet !! A new category,.. super playbikes ?? Imagine a bike docile enough to learn on that can still spank a 450 in the woods ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see the swingarm stretch, relocated footpegs and 3.5 lb custom pipe in this last picture.

A stocker weighs 290 without fuel (give or take a pound) so I'd like to know where you shaved 15 pounds off your bike? The USD forks are obvious, and so is the trimmed rear plastic. An astute eye will also notice your muffler is shorter than stock as well. Is all this worth the 15 lbs or does the Edelbrock carb account for something? Sean
