![]() there is a lot of work to convert the tw wheel to the bmw so i will try to post more info and pics. the stock tw uses a 428 chain and the bmw uses a 520 chain so i found out i can use a 83 yamaha xt250 rear sprocket since it has the same bolt pattern as the tw200 but uses a 520 chain. that was one big thing i was worried about before i found the sprocket. sorry for the ugly pics too, i got mismatched bolts and dirty parts but will replace and clean everything up soon.the sprocket flange in the pic was too far out to line up the chain to the bmw and the hub was too wide so i cut about 5/8 to 3/4 off the hub end and lost the 3rd bearing and outer axle seal in the process so i used a sealed bearing to keep the grime out.i cut the flange welds to move it inward about 5/8 of a inch to get the wheel centered and the chain line correct. kubiak screwed with this post 07-14-2012 at 10:22 AM |

I know it's not really the direction your headed with this one, but Shinko makes some pretty aggressive street based tires for the TW. They're cheap too.I know how well a stock TW sticks to the pavement with OEM tires, I would be curious how that monster would work even gripper tires. More contact patch than some cars. You would probably run out of covering clearance pretty quickly though.
Nice work.

The 244 was what I put on my tw and i thought it was MUCH better on the street and in the dirt over the stock tire.
The bike did really good in the sand and swamps around here, cant imagine it with good suspension and lots of power... |

Wow. Awesome work!
I'm a huge fan on the TW200, even with all it's shortcomings. Your bike rocks! |

i might have seen yours in the pics with the 244, i wanted the stock tw tire on my bike at first then thought maybe go back to a 244 since they are made to run on a front or back wheel. then i saw a pic of a tw with one on and that was it!

i thought of doing that till i counted the spokes. the tw rim has 32 and the dakar has 36 spokes.that would have been too easy if they had the same amount of spokes! i even thought of grinding and welding the holes on the tw wheel then redrilling the 36 holes.
