Keep the Flinders info coming as it sounds like a good place to spend a few days.
Any suggestions on how to tackle the Flinders from Maree on two DR650s with average riders and 25 litres of fuel on board?

Shouldn't this stupid question be asked in the South Australian thread

+1. There 3 weeks ago from Maree to Oodnadatta. Highway all the way thru with a few corrugations past W/crk but nothing to worry about.

There was no fuel at William Creek apart from diesel at that time so may pay to check.

I did say I may only have half a brain.
As this thread seemed to be going that way I thought it as good a place as any.

Not quite Flodder,

The grader has finished the Cooper Peddy/Oodnatta track and it is excellent. He was working his way down from Oodnatta to William Creek today, graded about 30kms south, just like a bitumen hwy, the rest is good, some corrugations, but no bulldust holes except for one which has red warning flags planted around it.

No road kill on the road, but still plenty of emu's around.
Unleaded only at WC @ $2.40 pl, stubbie is $7.00, shot of rum $8.50 + coke, can of Bundy and coke $10.00 over the counter.

Donga accomadation $35 pp, vey basic. Up market cabins, $150 per room (2 people), camping, behind hotel $10 per tent, in caravan park across the road, $12.50 pp.

Food very good, try the Lamb necks, bottles of red from $22 to $40.

Still cheaper then Paranchilla and Blinman, where I have stayed in the last few weeks as well.

Paranchilla can easily set you back $300/400 pp per night, Blinman pub about $200/$300 pp per night.

It ain't cheap outback anymore in this part of the woods.

Very true, and I have slept many a night under the stars, and still do, we intend to spend (the Bendigo sidecar lads) most of our nights camped out on our way to and from the OCR.

But all I was doing was pointing out the current costs involved in travelling for a lot of people who may not be familar travelling outback.

I'm very fortuate to be able to do so, in all sorts of modes of camping.
But right now, thanks to friends, hotels/motels, I may well have not been travelling, but instead confined to bed or a body bag.

Cheers, and if I get to Darwin, which is more then likely now that things have changed, I would gladly buy you a beer.

Thanks guys for the track updates, totally pissed at the amount of rain we have been having here in Bris. Just hope the rain is gone by the 26th.

Looking forward to a poke around the flinders and the track on the 950. Seem like ages since I have been out for a "Decent" run.

Thanks mate,

Will be up there between 28th 29th so may see ya along the track.

If you're still there on Saturday night, the 10th of August about 100 cars and 350 people on the first night of the SA Variety Club Bash will also be there. I'll be in a 390ci Ford Galaxy. Keep an eye out.
