Yamaha V-Star 250 has a 27" seat height.

Edit: A little taller and heavier, but the Suzuki S40 would have a lot more juice. 27.6" seat height, and 380lbs.

I keep it in Phoenix to visit. In a few weeks I'll ride it to CO, and pick up the Pony Express trail west to Reno. Then south through Vegas to PHX.

I use a Happy Trails tail plate (huge) and a Wolfman soft pannier system and tank bag. I camp a little...Also two power outlets to run my heated gear. It's 335lbs loaded for travel. Under 300 with a tank of gas.

Mine is lowered 1 inch to about 34/5 inches seat height. There is another inch I could take out, but fine for me with my 30 inch inseam. Not low enough I know, so do yourself a favor and look into a Yamaha WR250X Supermoto with its 17 inch wheels. Same bike, but waaay shorter. Then take out two inches more with a lowering link, the mechanical, plus shortening the shock. Sort of a custom deal. She'll never look back.

She'll end up with a hot handling motorcycle that is featherlight. Maybe get her some Sumo boots, MX garb and a mondo MX helmet with goggles. She won't fit in too well with the pirates, though.

Just wanted to say thanks, I read that at work, and laughed out loud...now everyone is staring at me.

Used to ride with a friend of my wife's. She had a Suzuki Savage. Think they've changed the name, but they still make it. Seemed to do a good job for her. It's a 650 single, but it "blends" in with the cruiser crowd. Might be worth a look.

Case closed

Well, we went to the local Honda/Suzuki/Kawasaki dealer and she tried several. She ended up trading her Harley 883 Super Lo on a Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter! And she is absolutely thrilled with the new ride. The Burgman is still quite tall for her...but she likes not having to worry about clutch/gears anymore...since it is automatic transmission. She was literally hopping up and down with excitement during the test ride. It'll do interstate speeds PLUS....and it can carry a bunch of stuff....so I think it'll work for her. So if you are in the south central Indiana area and see a fellow on a blue Yamaha Super Tenere trailing behind a happy urchin on a Burgman scooter it's probably us.

I guess the biggest remaining problem is....we don't fit in to any of the self-established "factions" within the motorcycling world. Neither of us has a HD anymore....can't be a "pirate". If there is still some small and relatively un-known faction that rides for fun I guess that would be us. And OHHHH are we having fun!

Thanks to all the folks who chimed in with ideas. In the end, I think the best idea was to just try a bunch of bikes and see what feels the best.

Absolutely a fabulous choice!!! Congrats! She can still be a "pirate".......well, Okay, maybe not. She's "in the wind" and that's all that counts. ENJOY
