Need help

Hi!
We are from Russia (sorry for the English).
In search of an answer to the question we have found this site.
We build the motorcycle with sidecar and using actuator on sidecar .
This device has upper and lower position.
But now, how to find average - zero position of actuator during installation of sidecar and adjustment of angles?
We would appreciate an answer or link, if this topic has been discussed.

Welcome . Your english is fine

How I did my manual adjuster .
Zero position , sidecar empty and at lowest position . The sidecar will never get lighter , only heavier with gear and/or a person .

If you are building it yourself you can add as much leverage as you want , 1 - 1 , 2 - 1 . Mine raises the chair 100 mm from low to high without touching the shock pre-load and is 2 - 1.

Adjustment of angles depends on many things. How long is the swing arm , where on the swing arm will the shock sit ( leverage ) , what is the spring and dampening rate of the shock , how heavy is the chair ... There is no one answer . The shorter the swing arm the better , mine is 230 mm from axle to pivot .

Have fun .

Hi!
Please advice.
Please describe in details how should be steered the sidecar at normal angles? (on straight line, in turns).
What efforts should be done to the bar at different speeds in turns?
The correct angles need to be adjusted on loaded or empty sidecar?

I have adjust the angles on an empty sidecar - its rides fine on a flat road at 100 km/h.
If load the sidecar with heavy person (I had experience with passenger 130 kg), the sidecar pulls strongly to the right.
At the same time with 50 kg passenger, the sidecar rides fine, but has small unstable on course.

Will be very appreciated for your answer and recommendations.

PS: bike Kawasaki Drifter-1500 with Ural sidecar.

When you first set up the bike, did you have the suspension compressed to the same position it would be with a rider in the seat?

Hi from Russia.
Ok, I will try to explain on the poor English ...
We set up the corners at the empty frame, without load.
We put the wheel of sidecar vertically, to fix the frame of sidecar in horizontal position.
Then we set the toe-in on 20-30 mm on the length of the motorcycle base and the axle alignment on 3 degrees of level.
So, please advice, how to install the corners: on the loaded sidecar or not

Sit on the bike so the rear goes down.

Tie the bike so it stays in place.

Set all your measurements.

Ok.
And what to do with sidecar?
It is necessary to load or not?...

Hi from Germany,

if the Kawasaki has still the telescopic fork, it´s normal, that you have great efforts on your handle bar. If the sidecar runs well with a 50 kg passenger, you´ve done everything right. If you want easier handling ar all, you´ve to mfit a trial reduction or a leading link front end.
Greetings to Russia
