NW North Carolina- Foothills Rides and Dinners thread

Lots of great dirt and scenic roads in the area. We are truly blessed to live in such a motorcycle friendly area.

My brother (kickstand72) and I live near the Wilkes/ Yadkin line. We ride quite often. I am healing from a shattered collarbone, so I am riding a bit slow myself now.

We will try and post in here when we ride again.

I appreciate any heads up you may have. I am still in the process of learning what kind of riding I want to do, the gear i need.

trying to put cash together to get some upgrades on the bike. gotta get some crash bars and a better skid plate before i go anywhere more than old dirt roads.

thanks for the reply, maybe we will get to ride together some time.. I would like that.

welcome to adv bess227. here is a pic of my set up on the klr. happy trails crash bar and skid plate combo with highway pegs . after shelling out on the right side for new plastic i was convinced to protect it. looking forward to meeting soon.

Got a buddy that just bought a red and silver 08 we are going to pick up next week.

Maybe we can get together for a ride soon. I would like that.

AMEN on the crash bars, as soon as i can wrangle the cash that is the deal I am going with. First trip on a trail last night reminded me really quick this is not a little 125 on the dirt.

Anybody up for a ride on Sunday? There weather is supposed to be good.

I'm planning to ride on Stone Mtn, which is the NC/TN state line. It's between Boone & MtnCity. There's a lot of trails on top, and a few very tough rocky hill climbs from the TN side. I've been on a lot of it, but there is still a lot that I'd like to explore. There's also a long ridgeline to the south, all the way to Locust Gap, that I'd like to learn the route.

Best for a light bike, with low gearing & good tires, but come on whatever you've got & we'll go where we can.

PM me & we'll decide on a meeting time & post that here for others to join in.

If you'd like to try it another time that would be good too, just let me know.

Damn, I can't believe I am saying this...but I definitely miss riding that road, and the roads near Globe/ Careys Flatt, and going all the way to Blowing Rock on 95% fs road....rock House road, and...y'all have fun!

Meet time is 10:00 am at the parking lot west side of Mc donalds in Lenoir sunday morning. Everyone is welcome. This will be forest service gravel road as much as possible. Route to be determined but i want to hit maple sally rd first thing. Suggestions?

Wish I could commit, but I finally talked the family into riding ATVs with me this Saturday. Probably can't justify two days in a row to the boss lady. :( But then again, she might have shopping plans for Sunday...and I'll be able to pull it off. So, I'm a "probably not, but maybe".

I'd come on the XT225, which just got some big boy handlebars & footpegs yesterday. They really transformed the feel of the little bike. The WR's wearing new knobbies & I don't think 50 miles of 321 would be good for them.

The weather's looking great. Can't believe it's January. You guys have a good ride & be safe.
