I looked at this helmet but just didnt work for me because I wear glasses. I ended up with the Fly DS helmet, it is almost the same helmet when it comes to quailty and price. This one is pretty light weight, fits well(sizing seems to be like the AFX). It has some wind noise at higher speeds, and I wish the visor was just abit longer.

Fly Trekker == DS39. I've got the AFX. Wasn't impressed at all by the old FX-37's, but the 39's are much improved.
Love mine... fits way better than the Joe Rocket hybrid, my old DS helmet. It's on par with my HJC ACX3/CLX6 MX helmets. Fit with sunglasses could be better. The visor's great. Wind/buffeting is better than my MX helmets, and better than the RKT by a long shot. Never owned a street helmet for comparison. Vents all over, and most of them open/close. Buckle is kinda funky, not sure if I don't have a low-enough chin or what, but I had to cinch it down really far (past the label on it) to get it to hold snug. ![]() Its my street/commuting/crappy-weather helmet; and for that i'm real happy with it.

I have had mine for just a couple days. The only think I don't like opening is very narrow. My goggles just barely fit. I am guessing lots wont't.
normally wear an XL but going on others recommendation I ordered a L. Helmet fits good except for the cheek pads. I am going to swap out the cheek pads for XL and I think they will do it. |

Ive had mine for a few months now, size was exactly what it needed to be, was not too big or too small, just right, i can wear glasses and goggles with mine, never an issue, have taken it on an 80mph freeway rides, and all sorts of rides, works great for me.
got mine for revzilla too, was the best price. |

I just ordered mine from a store on ebay for $105 with free shipping. Couldn't beat the price. I have a new street helmet waiting for me back home, but I wanted the DS helmet for the same reason I wanted a DS bike.....versatility. Guess I'll just sell the street one, or keep it around in case of an "OH SH@t" moment.

I had the 37 and then got in a crash that resulted in a minor concussion when my head hit a stationary metal object at 20+ mph. I didn't die, so I think the helmet protected my head very well. After the crash I upgraded to the 39.
It's a much better helmet. I love the fit, it's the perfect shape for my head. Love the large visor, it almost feels like a 3/4 helmet vision wise and I dont have to take the helmet off for people to hear me when I talk. Vents better than any full face helmet I own. It is a little loud. My only complaint is that the liner material, especially the cheek pads doesn't feel super high quality, but what can you expect for the price. |

I've got a Fly Trekker that I really like. I did try on the AFX 39 as well.
The helmets share the same outer shell but the EPS and padding fit very differently. Fly fit my narrower head better. The AFX seemed much wider in the temples and could almost spin the large around my head and the medium wasn't close to fitting. The L fly fit snug front to back and hugged in close to my temples. I do like the standard D rings on the Fly vs the AFX. Plenty of graphics options available with the AFX but i like the solid white of the Fly. Only real beef with the helmet is the visor lacks a barely open detent and you cant open the visor all the way to the top. The two detent settings and the closed setting work well but its just not perfect. I found the distortion almost non-existant and the sound level is comparable or a bit less than a full offroad helmet but nosier than a standard full face. With a metal skidplate on my DR I always ride with plugs anyways. Decent DOT and ECE rated helmet try both versions on and make sure one fits well. |

I like mine well enough. Fits good and I can wear eye glasses. Lifts a little bit, especially in a cross wind. My only gripe is my nose rubs on the helmet. They could be a little longer in that area. It'll save my life but probably break my nose. I don't regret the purchase, though.

For the money I really like mine....good visibility, good ventilation. No problems with glasses for me. I had to exchange the first one because it was too small. Size charts said i should squarely fit in a medium but my nose hit the front of the helmet and it seemed way to tight for me. The large fit much better.

I have used my AFX 39 on a few commuter trips to work of 370 miles each way and really like it. Coming from an HJC Flip up I think I have converted over to the DS type helmets. I like the visor for when riding into the sunset and the clear windshield. I wear sunglasses no problem with this helmet with 6 hr comfort and can't even tell I have them on under the helmet. Not really sure why people are saying this helmet does not work with glasses. But then again everyone's head is different. So for me I like it. For the price of just over $100 you can't beat it. I wore an friends Arai XD and wanted to shoot myself by the end of the ride cause my head was hurting so bad and I had hot spots all over the place. Guess the best thing to do is try it on and see if it fits. I would have been pissed if I would have thrown down $500 on the Arai and it felt like it did. $100 is an easy gamble..

I got my AFX-39S helmet from Revzilla .Used about 15 revzella bucks ,so I got the silver helmet for around $94.00 including shipping .I wear a large in the Arai Vector . I was told to get a M , and wear it around the house for awhile to see if the fit was correct . .
I rode about 300 miles in winds (40-50). A little more wind noise than my Arai. I didn't get much over 70 on the GS today ,but I am impressed with this helmet . My head didn't get pitched much more than if I had the Arai or the Shark .Great vision in all directions . I will still use the Arai for long trips ,but the AFX-39S will be my everyday helmet for now . Good value !

I love my new FX-39, but there are two huge shortcomings that you must be aware of:
It is dangerous. Instead of focusing on the road, I find myself constantly glancing down at my instrument cluster at the badass-looking young man eyeballing me in the reflection. Goddamn he's handsome. ![]() It violates rule #1, "no fatties allowed on the bike." This lid is chubby. My old helmet fit nicely on its side into one half of my trunk, but the peak on this one makes it too wide to close the trunk, and too long to fit in one half.

OK.....I read this whole post and have a question.
![]() Currently I wear a Shoei Hornet size Large that fits snug but comfortable as a proper helmet should, however a bit tight to remove. I just ordered (before finding this informative post!) a AFX-39DS Medium as my head measures 59 3/4 and a round head. So.....should I give it a try....or.....refuse delivery (FedEx) and pay for restocking ....and order the Fly in a Large? ![]() I know....it's kind of a subjective thing....Thanks |
