I use the Black Dog skid plate. The thing is a kick ass monster - serious protection for everything under there! Very well built, with secure mounting. It does not simply screw into the wimpy little OEM screw holes. I love it.
That said.... it wraps up on the sides to protect the pipes, and it will cook your feet in the summer. Today's high here is 105, and this thing is toasty. Maybe this will not be such an issue where you live. Worth the money I say!

Is the Givi one discontinued? It's not listed on the Givi USA page, nor does the link you site indicate a price/availability, nor do I find any other sites offering it?

Thanks for including us. Our skid plate is made of 3/16" (4.5mm) aluminum and has a unique feature that includes a key slot rear support that the rear of the skid plate slides into, and then is secured in place by the two bolts in the front, making removal for maintenance a snap. Also, our skid plate features a very rugged front and rear steel sub-frame that is much more durable than anything else on the market. The rear support actually attaches to the frame giving it much more strength.
You can see more details here: We just announced "HOT AUGUST DEALS" and are offering 15% off our skid plate, rear rack, footpegs and chain guard for the F800GS. Check out our specials here. A great opportunity to get some BODY ARMOR FOR YOUR BIKE!! Please let me know if you have any questions about our products! Thanks for your continued support Kurt

I installed the Jesse skid plate, center stand plate and his engine/crash bars on my F650GS twin Special Edition. Great products, good price and the fit perfectly. Excellent coverage and protection. There are a lot of other good choices too, but Al makes a good product.

Hi Dorito!
This reminds me that we have an update on our skid plate. We are on to the V3 version now. With that we have added two small vent slots to the bottom to help draw air in on extremely slow technical riding where the front vents won't do much: ![]() We've also designed an even tougher front bracket. Old one on the top, new one on the bottom: ![]() More details here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...536723&page=17 With those changes the price has gone up to $281.99 CAD. We're incredible happy with the performance of our skid plates 'round the world but we never stop! ![]() Thanks!! Dave
