Bob called this morning; he was just getting into Alabama on I10. He spent some time in AK and Kansas City checking out his transmission which turned out to be OK. He's committed to making it to Key West.

If he's going to Key West this time of year, he should be committed. (Says some idiot who made the mistake of riding there on July 5th a few years ago.)

Bob's not one to let pain and suffering stop him from banging his head on a brick wall. Pity the wall.

Whats UP

Big things First.

I was in Destin FL when the clutch cable let go, and I called Kevin, FLAM. The breakdown happened across from a HOOTERS so I pushed the bike in there to work on it.

Thanks to FLAIRHEADS Kevin Reimer, Claud Baudin, Jerry Gillbert, and Larry Meeker the bike stayed on the road. Kevin got the right guys on the phone, about a 1/2 hour later Claud showed up with about 5 old cables, Jerry came and helped, had to do a reroute job (/2 cables) are a bit short, but it worked great.

The bike worked fine with the old cable all the way to Key West and back up to Jacksonville. I had called ahead and Jax BMW had a cable overnighted. Cable and other parts in hand, went to NAPA next door and got the fluids. The plan was to work on the bike at JAX NAS auto hobby shop, the sighn on the door said open a noon... It wasn't. The FLAirhead Webmaster Eddie hooked me up with Larry Meeker who was about 6 miles from JAX. The new cable went in and the fluids got changed at Larry's.

Now the small stuff.

Key West is in the bag. Left Tyndall AFB ran across the old 2 lane aligator alley, and down to KW. Pictures were taken with the bike at the bouy, me the bike and the bouy, me a Real Good Cigar and all the gear on at the bouy. Saw Pappa's House. and split. Got into Homestead ARB that night and shut it down.

Ran up to Jacksonville, did the repair stuff, had breakfast with a long lost cousin. Ran up to Savnnah, and the Heavins OPENED up.. The Historical district is nice, didn.t take the camera out just hope the pelikan case kept it dry. thought it couldn't rain any harder so up he road to Agusta I went.. WRONG.. Like 40 days and Nights kinda RAIN! Temp droped, soaked through, it felt good. Lack of visiability was the only problem, just kept going and 50 miles later it cleared up. By the time I made Agusta and a frends place I was dry. Ribs on the Big Green Egg, Minor League Baseball tonight, Life is good!

Happy Birthday Baby. I'm headed North tomarrow.

More Whats up

Left Agusta, and did some business N of Atlanta. Rode and walked the Civil War battle field at Chickamuga. ended that day in central TN.

The Next day was a run up to Galien MI to a friends farm, got in late, tired ad dirty, the shower and bed really felt good.

Went up to the old homeplace in Bridgman MI, checked my folks grave, and the Grandmeire area below Stevensville. Ran US-20 all the way in to Chicago 103rd St. Took that to the old elementary and high school, and the Old place I grew up. couldn't rase any friends in the hood. Over to 95th St (US-20 W) and ran it all the way to Galena IL. Got in about 11 PM at another friends, Beer, Shower, talked till midnight and crashed.

Left Galena @ 11 and ran US-20 and 8 back to Ashyre IA. Got in about 6 PM, good run short day. +93 f for most of it. Can't believe the number of riders I've seen in shorts, Halter tops and flipflops, most of them not in helmets either in IL and IA, guess if you went down hard dressed like that you may not want to wake up... I've been in the Motoport Suit, helmet, boots and gloves every day. Yep it is HOT.

The next two should make up for it. Plan on making Spearfish SD tomarrow and Helena the next, to help and turn some wrenches on Kevin's PD.

thats it I'm shutting Down.

I'm

Down Day in Milton-Freewater OR

Yea.

Easy day yesterday from Helena to Milton - Freewater OR. Nice Ride, saw a few deer, and a Rooster Pheasant. Went by a casino with a temp sign 105 degrees... It was hot and in the Moto-port it was hot but ok. Heading up the western route tomorrow going to try and find Hider AK. then the plan is to get back home. The place I'm at is kinda up a box canyon so AT&T doesn't work again.

It's beer 30 and steaks are going on the grill tonight.
