I hope you enjoyed the route and I was not too slow for you. I also hope you got back to the Ranch in time to miss the deluge. Almost an inch of rain fell at the cabin starting about 16:30. I was thinking about all the ADV people that night.Send me some pictures if you have any, DOH I forgot my camera. See I did get lost after all. ![]() Marty, So sorry to hear about your incident. Get well soon.Thank you Pablo for all the hard work. ![]() Marc

Home safely.
Felt odd, empty, and sad pulling an empty trailer behind me. Every time I'd take a hard turn or hit a bump, I'd look in the mirror to see if the Dakar was still stable. But there was no Dakar because of some douchebags in Colo Springs. But we had a good time at WF and eveyone was great! Big thanks to every one who offered to loan us a 2 up bike (there were dozens of you) and Mega Big Thanks to Adventure Girl for actually trusting me with her 950 Adventure!! Wow, what a bike and what a day. We're still smiling. Great group of folks! Thanks for organizing it Pablo

So since I SUCK with remembering names, I will not even try to butcher it here. I met this guy that says he is dating FancyIndigo
he takes ATGATT seriously!!![]() Then there was the required de-n00bing: ![]() ![]() Caption Contest Winner!!! ![]() I think Buddy Holly was egging them on, he looks mischevious! I got to ride with some amazing guys that fixed my flat for me in about 5 minutes. Do NOT mess with the Trailboss when he rides like the wind and is geared like this: ![]() ![]() Since I am lame and can't remember names, I will just say thanks again guys, I owe somebody a new front tube! I had a blast, and I LOVE the 717 area! I can't wait to go back! Now must sleep and hydrate and get ready for RMAR!! WOOHOO!

First, a moment of perspective - my heart goes out to Wild Man whose wife had the aneurysm. That is much more serious than Marty's broken leg and will take much longer to heal. Let's be sure he has whatever support we can give.
Second, yes, Marty broke both bones in his lower right leg on Saturday while leading a ride, had surgery this morning, and is spending a couple of days in the hospital in the Springs. The tibia break was serious, but then tibia breaks always are. He now has a rod in the tibia and a whole lot of "splainin" to do to get through airport security in the future. ![]() I want to thank the following:-Paul, for helping me not be a nervous wreck Saturday so I could get Marty safely to the emergency room -The wonderful guys whose names I did not get (sorry!) who played "crutches" by helping Marty hop to the car on Saturday -My "4 musketeers" work crew - Rob, Todd, Mark, and Jeff - for loading the bikes for me this morning -Steve, for leading me to his house so I could drop the trailer and the bikes and not have to risk them in the hospital parking lot (if they would even fit!) -Laura (Big_LV) for helping me when it came time to unload Marty's KLR at home since I can't do it myself - we wimmen rock! [QUOTE] ... Marty rode back solo ...[QUOTE] huh? how'd that happen? ![]() oh, yeah, SgtMarty was being his usual "impervious to pain" self ... gotta love it

Yeah, I heard about this with Marty, many people were upset to hear he rode back solo, WAYYYYYYY not cool.
What gives? Prayers to all that need them in recovery, and hoping the cops find some bikes and trucks

Just got home. Another WestFest in the history books. What a great time. Paul, thank you for stepping up and taking on this years WestFest. It's a lot of work and you did a great job.
Somebody over the weekend said it would be a lot like herding cats. That probably sums it up pretty well. The de-n00bing was especially entertaining. ![]() It's the shits about Marty. Sounds like he is in good hands in CO Springs. Time for a shower and a nights sleep. Just glad my wife doesn't snore like that guy in the tent next to me. ![]() I'll post more pics in the morning.

Yeah thats not cool
[QUOTE=LaurieD;19241793]First, a moment of perspective - my heart goes out to the Adv'er (sorry, I forgot your handle) whose wife had the aneurysm.
And finally, I really want to thank the folks who escorted Marty back to camp to make sure he got back safely. I mean, after all, that's what we ADV'ers do, right? If someone gets lost, we go look for them. If someone has to go to the hospital, we take them. If someone crashes, or has to abort a ride because they are too injured or sick or whatever to continue, or if someone has trouble of any sort, we help them get safely home regardless of what they say ("no, I'll be fine - no, really, I'll be fine...") because we all know better than to take that for an answer, right? right?
