Riders for Health- Dual Sport Scavenger Hunt Aug 10-12, 2012

Hi there, on behalf of Riders for Health (www.riders.org) we are having a Dual Sport Scavenger Hunt out of Brinnon, WA on Aug. 10-12th. (Where's Brinnon you ask?: It's right in the middle of the Hood Canal in the shadows of the Olympic Mountains on the peninsula)
It's a 2+ day gathering of camping, sleuthing, picture taking and competition for prizes. The event itself is free and sure to please with 3+ routes of varying elevation and difficulty levels to take you past some spectacular views of Mt. Constantine, Mt. Townsend, small alpine lakes, spectacular views of Hood Canal. If interested please go here: http://www.payitsquare.com/collect-page/6098 to read all about it, the routes, suggested donation amount, guidelines and rules.

Hope to see you there!!

Thumb What a great cause!

Best of luck to the cause...Washington's a little too long, but would be a great idea to hold one on the Hatfield-McCoy Trails in WV.

Cheers,
Phar..

Route Scout

The Routes:
In Betweens: The local businesses are looking forward to your visits as you partake on the adventure, so keep your eyes out for Whitney Gardens and Nursery and the Half-Way House Restaurant. In addition to the campgrounds and few trailheads that are right off of Hwy 101.
North Loop- is a winding and beautiful route around the Quilcene River and to one of the Mt. Townsend trail heads.
Central Loop– is a wonderful collection of multiple smaller looped routes the north loop takes you around Buck Mountain and Mt. Turner and the southern route is following along the Duckabush River through the valley. (Mt. Jupiter may be closed)
South Loops- (Neither are loops)The Short route (northern) is a wonderful ride along the Hamma Hamma river up to the furthest driveable point with multiple creeks running/falls and a gorgeous view at the trailhead (mostly paved). The Longer south route is grants you gorgeous views, steep overlooks, and beautiful shots of small mountain lakes. (due to bridge closures/washouts the “circumference” cannot be completed so it’s one way in and out)

Elevation gains from -81 feet to 5,000 ft, beaut views of the Hood Canal region @ 3,000 ft, Gorgeous panoramic views of Mt. Constance, Mt. Townsend, etc,.

I am SOOO bummed I didn't know about this before today! I'd sadly never heard about Riders for Health but now I have, thanks for that... this is right up my alley.

I'd love to get/stay involved in the near future. I'm in Seattle full-time for med school and an active dual-sport rider. PM me if you'd be willing to pull me into the fray... otherwise I will just bug somebody until they do

Best of luck this weekend! Can't wait until the next Riders for Health gathering !!!

I paid for two camping spots and will only be using one. Anyone want to come check the event out? I'll be rolling in Saturday morning.

PM me for your contact information and I'll keep you on list for upcoming events, meetings etc,. Since this is our first "BIG" event, it will take some time but hopefully will be doing more and more. (Plans for winter events too)

Cheers,
Deb
