Cheap LED Auxiliary Lighting Options
I do a lot of riding at night and have been thinking about getting a set of auxiliary lights recently. The Denali LED light kits that Twisted Throttle sells look very nice, but they're also expensive ($265-$360). I've done some searching on Ebay and such, but haven't really seen anything that looks like what I'd like. I don't want halogen bulbs because of the wattage they use; I have an SV650 without a lot of overhead for high wattage items.
Has anyone used any cheap lighting options? Any you guys can recommend? Or recommend to steer clear of? Thanks. |

Any light system of quality - durability and light output - is typically going to be in that price range.
Rigid Industries is a well respected LED lighting brand in the off-road community, from sponsored race vehicles to 4x4 enthusiasts. I've even seen some pics of them on ADV setups. I use the regular Dually (not the D2) in flood pattern as reverse lights on my 4x4. They'd probably do ok as lights in the spot pattern on an ADV bike...however, I personally would go for the D2's as they are twice the lumens (and twice the price): https://www.rigidindustries.com/category-s/131.htm The D2's also have a driving beam pattern option. The regular Dually have spot and flood. Slightly different beam patterns. You can check out the beam pattern charts and see what works best for you and your budget. All Rigid lights come with a well made wiring harness. Simple plug and play. ![]() John |

Our Model 60 makes 3600 lumens which is way more than our Model 44 @ 2000 lumens and only uses 8 more watts at full power. We are less expensive than the Teslaleds as well after the ADVrider discount. George sells his for for $185 a pair ours are $180 a pair ![]() While you are looking at pricing, you can get a pair of our Model 30s for a bit over $100, a great value. We also offer some great LED controllers that allow you to use the lights to their full potential. Good luck with your decision.

Unshamful plug for top notch service
Ok ....so I was in the same spot as you a few weeks back. I pulled the trigger and bought from Adv. monster for a new GS. Had a little problem with the lights that was fixed over the phone on a Friday night after 7PM. Some vendors are unavailable after you hit the "buy it now" ...I know Adv. Monster treated me well. I liked the 60s so much I bought a pair for my old KLR...now my Barbie has high beams! Lol
I am sure there's other good choices out there but Adv. Monster had what I needed at a good price and stood buy the stuff after I had it in my hands. |

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm definitely new to auxiliary lighting and am not sure exactly what type of product I need for my intended application. Maybe someone could school me on this? Also, do the model 30s come with an on/off switch, or would I need to purchase that separately? |

I bought some real cheap LED lights at an auto parts store and they survived about a week before the LEDs started failing. I replaced them with Solstice http://visionxsuperstore.com/solstic...gledlight.aspxlights and they are much brighter and have survived for thousands of miles without a problem.

I have had some experience here... this is my opinion so take it or leave it...
I wanted some aux lights on my bike and was floored by the cost of the lights I wanted! Whoa... clearwater LED glendas... yikes. So... off I went to walmart to buy some cheapo silver bullet LEDs... not very bright but cheap. $90 I think. Well... 1 died in less than a week... the other got a cracked lens.... I won't go into the details but about $275 later I finally had some working LED lights that were not that bright, didn't have a dimmer... well I guess they didn't need one Spoke with Glenn at clearwater... he gave me a deal on the Glendas since he was at a show... so I got the "show price". Paid $400 for some glendas with a dimmer switch and everything you need to mount them on the forks. EXCELLENT customer service, SUPERB lights. They have worked flawlessly... high quality. I should have just paid the money up front. Glenn even gave me some advice when I was having issues getting an inspection sticker since my state frowns on custom lights to some extent (ended up being a non-issue since you just need to be careful where you go for the inspection). Clearwater LED lights.

LEDs form plasmaled.com:
http://www.plasmaled.com/high_power_module.htm Several of us got the 008 model in white. This is a great daytime running light that is waterproof and only $18.00 ea. They draw 230ma, so you don't need a relay and they work fine on an old airhead. These are not for use at night as they wont provide suitable light to drive with. Joe
