They have a mixed bag for protection. I see Triumph units and SW Motech units. They both do the same thing, just a different design. The SW Motech gives a little extra protection for the radiator area. And as with any manufacturer, they specialize in the bike, not the accessories.

Bikes are being ridden by Brendon Roberts from Triumph and former Grand Prix racer Kevin Magee. Both these blokes know how to pedal a bike so it will be well tested by the time it gets back.

There are a couple of other Tigers doing the rally and they seem to be travelling well.

Also, a photo of the MSC Steering Damper that arrived a while back. Tucks in neatly under the bars and if dampers are your thing, it is a really tidy option.

Danny,
Very impressive tank. How many kilometers do you have on the Tiger now?

Just so you know, you edited an old version of the list. I'm mobile right now and the cut and paste will be a nightmare, but I'll fix it when I get home.

Can you give some more details of this please? How does it mount?

I had a massive crash when I was up in the Kimberley, had a full lock tank slapper at 80-100kph over sandy corrugations. Bike held up well. Triumph engine guards were destroyed and I lost all the LH plastics. This damper would have prevented that and my bruised rib for the past 8 weeks.

I've pre-ordered a Safari tank. Was guoted $950 AUD with the original triumph fuel sender and a locking cap to allow tankbag use. Available colours will be black and translucent white. Can't wait. Had to carry an addition 12 litres of rotopax on the bike for my trip up north.

I have 15,000km's on mine now, with most of those being dirt. Haven't had a chance to do much at all for the last few months but I am hoping to get back into it more at the end of the year when work settles.

How did the bike go on the trip (apart from the big crash). I rode a 1200 GS Hire bike across there a while ago and I reckon the Tiger would be a considerably better option?

The damper is easy to mount, there is a billet plate that bolts under the bar clamps. The spigot is a little more fiddly and required removal of the tank but once it is all bolted up the setup is really tidy. I don't think it is going to stop every manner of misbehaviour though. They certainly help on sharp deflections and loose surfaces but you can still crash a bike quite easily with a damper mounted (I have experience in this particular field).

Thanks!

Bike went really well I did the trip i. Got over 36,000km on her now. Only problem I has was with stalling, not got around to greasing the stepper motor bushing yet, am waiting till I have to mount the Safari Tank. The stalling went away after a couple of days as it cleaned itself/ recalibrated.

The big crash happened on the Kalumbaru road up to the Mitchell falls. That road is a shocker. Just about every bolt on the bike started coming loose and I ran out of spare loctite. After the Safari tank I feel that a suspension update is in order. Traxxion in the US sounds like the best bet at the moment.

Happy Trails may be interested

Hey guys, just a thought. I just talked to Happy Trails about this, and they might be able to place the order for us.
They could handle the payments and shipping. If we preordered through HT, they could order them from Australia and get them shipped out to everybody.

If someone else wants to deal with it, I am still in. I just thought with this big of an order it might be good to let the pros handle it. Here's the reply from Happy Trails: Thanks for the inquiry, currently none of our suppliers are offering this filter. I have asked them if they would special order it in for us however, it usually takes a couple of days to get an answer. I will notify you as soon as I get an answer.

The only issue I can see is HT will need to get a cut of the pie in order to make it worth their while. Which I am not opposed to, however, the size of the cut could make the difference.
