Like many others here, I enjoy taking the time to compose a shot that may capture a lasting 'feel' years later when/if it's hanging on the wall. Some days it works, others not. Adams' style is not unique. He was simply the right place at the right time.

Adams' style WAS unique because for that time and era, his was some of first large scale, all encompassing shots that took a person to a place they might otherwise have never seen. They have since been nauseatingly repeated, to death.. but his were large and new, of unexplored wilderness, in all of its glory.. He would stand for hours in one locale for "that" shot. How many of you have? He would experiment with lighting and dark room techniques.. So yes, a little hero worship is called for... because of his experimentation, knowledge, and expertise a great number of photographers went on themselves, to be great.
