Great stuff and awesome photos! My lady and I are experimenting with 2-up camping on my 1200GS and find this very interesting. It is a challenge but so far I think we are going to be able to travel distance as well. We'll ride along!

So I tried to shorten this video just cutting out the boring sections of Hurricane Ridge, But I couldn't find any. Oh well. Deal with it.

Thanks for your service. I was a company commander 2/506 co E 1968 VN. A great unit with unmatched history. The band of brothers capt winters was the co of 2/506 reg co E. I was was shocked to read the book years later to find I was in the same company after the army went from reg to bns. What unit were you in?
Keep up with the report. |

After Hurricane Ridge we visited the Honda Dealership in Port Angeles where I insisted Helen buy warmer gloves and silk liners. She gets cold at 70.
We then make some decisions regarding the route. We ride from Port Angeles... ![]() To Port Townsend... ![]() Where we hop on a ferry to Whidbey Island. ![]() We see our sister ship going the other way. ![]() The ferry cut out lots of freeway riding around Puget Sound, but I'm not sure it was any faster. The crossing was over 20 minutes and traffic was very slow making progress a real chore all the way to Interstate 5. (The blue line and dots are our GPS tracks.) ![]() ![]() We were surprised by how much this big boat rocked and rolled. After getting hot chocolate the Captain announced all motorcyclists should tend to the machines as the crossing was expected to be rough. It's not likely I could catch it if it started going over... ![]() I think this bridge was leaving the island. ![]() We finally find I-5 and turn towards Canada. ![]() I spotted a big KTM dealership and stopped for parts I expected may soon be needed. Of course, no KTM dealer actually stocks anything. dave6253 screwed with this post 08-14-2012 at 04:05 PM |

Into Canada
We eventually get to the border. Helen disembarks to cast suspicion in our direction.
![]() Can you believe it. They let me into Canada.... Again. ![]() Even though we took a shortcut, we still don't make our mileage goal for the day. We again decide to settle for a hotel room. This time near the airport in Vancouver, BC. This is getting expensive! It was only 217 miles for the day, so far. ![]() We jump back onto the bike and ride downtown to see the sights (Take Pictures). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The shops were all closed and we were too tired to party, so back to the hotel room we go. ![]() dave6253 screwed with this post 08-13-2012 at 09:43 PM |

Welcome to Vancouver. The Sea to Sky is a great ride. Beautiful scenic route. Hope you stopped at Squamish for a coffee at Starbucks. It's a popular meeting point for motorcyclists.
Have a safe trip.

Katoom990, Beautiful city you have there. The surrounding countryside isn't too shabby either. I've been avoiding Starbucks as I need to cut out caffiene. I'm not really addicted to coffee, though I like it. I did want to try a Tim Horton's, but the one time we decided to go, the lines were outrageous.

Thanks Cannonshot! I like taking pix, but my tales lack the colorful details that make your historical masterpieces so enjoyable.
