TPAT to northern end of TWVT
Right now Chip - IntoTheNew - and I have THREE different routes mapped to connect the western end of the TPAT to the northern end of the TWVT trail.
I think Chip has ridden some of his, I haven't ridden either of mine - but it's penciled on the schedule for May. We'll use what we can get - and there's enough there ridden to do what we need to do, but we think it would be cool to have the loop completed to have a stand alone loop in PA. If you look at the map Chip posted, we now have loops around Georgia, NW New Jersey and in SE New York. There are other things in the works along those lines....

TPAT connection
Right now I'm on the road and don't have my routes with me, so I don't know exactly where we connect.
I'll be home next week so I'll get back to you on the exact places.... I know on my routes I have a couple of alternates south of I-80 and at least one north of I-80. I'll get back with you on exactly WHERE we're talking about connecting. |

What I laid out and ran was from Weedville PA to Chester WV. The Eastern section worked out decent, until I reached the Allegheny River. From there West was simply running through bedroom communities, it's a no-go.

I will be following the route as shown on my link on the TPAT thread. The western side was laid out by "community input". I am sure it will be nice, I just want to test ride it. I know you have asked me to color code my route, but there are no hero sections. My buddy could ride all of it on his BMW R1200S (with proper tires, and it's not raining :) ) Here is a pretty picture. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...&postcount=125

Port Jervis to Catskill Alternative
The map posted by "inthenew" looks like it goes through Port Jervis, and crosses the Hudson at the Catskill bridge. Here is an alternate route that goes through some higher elevations and less populated areas.
My reasoning

Port Jervis to Catskill Alternative Connector map
This route meanders but I really like it, for me the best roads are the ones that have to follow some natural feature like a river, a hollow or a hill. This is nice combination of twisty roads, dirt and scenic views.
These are some sections from the paved portion that I took a few years ago. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...13928483143698 https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...11391812583442 https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...13326668873746 https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/1...14250718609426 Black track - blacktop 20 Red tracks - maintained dirt 2 Green tracks - two track non graded dirt 20 Blue tracks - paved Scenic sections CannonsvilleRider screwed with this post 04-11-2012 at 02:25 PM Reason: update map with scenic sections |

CannonsvilleRider - Big thanks for your work above. I rode portions of your TetCatskillsAlt and CatGerrymander this past weekend, with a camp stop near Delhi. Excellent weekend for it, the dirt roads were perfect and the paved sections empty too!

It's good
I haven't been everywhere, but the snow is all gone and most of the mud too.
