Race transporters and car carriers typically use smaller tires or single tires so you can drive between the tires. There is also a class of independent suspensions for that type of trailer so you don't have to have space for an axle under the floor.
When I owned large boat transport carriers our trailers used a special type of axle that dropped down and we ran on single wheels that could be doubled up when we needed to carry heavy boats, but then the empty trailer was about 10'6" wide - not an issue when hauling boats because at that point a boat that heavy was typically wider than the trailer. Still, these people don't seem to understand that sort of equipment exists, or they have ground clearance issues although a couple of their designs do have low tool boxes.
