Hmmm, I imagine that would be more pull back than you have brake line still? I had installed Rox risers on the f6gs and was lucky enough to be very tight with the mechanics at the BMW shop where I lived previously (in SC). Just cost me a couple bucks in parts to have them custom make a new brake line and bleed it for me. Not quite so lucky now.

I may be test driving one this weekend. We'll see.

Yeah, I like Rox risers but they didn't work on the 800R. I switched to the Verholens and have plenty of extra brake line now. Not sure about the cables, though. The idea of a GS handle bar is still just an idea. On the GS all you need to do is run the brake line behind the fork with Rox risers, not the same with the F800R. The brake line is a tight fit. Some folks here have mentioned getting a custom brake line but I don't know if anyone was successful.

Can you fit a 15 inch mac book pro in the OEM panniers without expanding?

I had a brake line made and used the Rox Risers, worked great. I am however right down the street from one of the better custom cable makers out there so no shipping and quick turn around.

I'm not sure about the pre-2012's, but on the 2012 there is a very unique attachment (front of the bike) that several brake lines run into, and the end of those connections are integrated into this piece... not your traditional banjo connection. So I have no idea how you're supposed to swap that brake line (or any of them that run into it) with this unique piece/thing, whatever it is. One thing is for sure, you're not going to just have another brake line made and "plug it in". While it's pretty clever, it's also a paint in the ass for this very reason.

This is the custom brake line bracket that runs in the front of the bike and seems to me to be the big issue with changing out that front brake line. I don't see any evidence that the brake lines separates from this thing (i.e. unscrews, etc.). If anyone knows any different, please say!!

Maybe you can post their web or phone number up here. Did they fit a longer brake line up to the handle bar or make a whole new brake line from wheel to handlebar? What was the cost?

I was referred to a local guy here but chickened out and figured the Verholen was going to be less hassle and cheaper in the long run. Plus it was mid-winter so I would have had to trailer the bike.

Apparently there is an "extension" made that attaches in-between the master cylinder and the original brakeline. So it appears the original banjo connection is removed and the line is then attached to the extension?

These are the guys that made the cable, extremely high quality stuff, better than OEM. I dont remember how much exactly but it was less than $50, I will have to dig out the invoice.

The dealer pretty much handled it, the took the stock cable off, took it to them and said" I need one of these three inches longer", they had it done in 2 days.

http://www.barnettclutches.com/

I was trying to save some dough by going with the Rox Risers, in the end I didnt save enough to make it worth it because I didnt do the work myself. I was also originally told the stock cable could be made to work, obviously not the case. The Rox Risers dont look bad at all but If I had it to do over I would go with the Verholen kit, looks nicer IMO. If you do the work yourself the savings are well worth it.

Haha - $50 is a really good deal. I paid about $78 for my Rox risers AND about $325 for the Verholens! I have been a fan of Rox because they pivot at two places, while the Verholens are fixed in one of those. You can only adjust the bars on the Verholens.

The Verholens are supposed to come with a replacement brake line. Did yours? If so, was it an extension or a whole new brake line and if new, how does it attach to that bracket attachment on the front of the bike?

The Verholen kit does come with the brake line extension, comes with everything needed. It better, its damned expensive!

It's an extension. The brake line disconnects from the handlebar and goes to an attachment that fits on a screw to the horn. From there the extension line goes up to the handlebar. All parts needed are included in the Verholen, which is really a kit that includes the risers, brake line extension, and attachment.

so, i sorta followed your advice, and now have a 2012 f800r and, after the dealer put in gas and the first 15 miles, i have the following troubling update:

Cool, thanks for describing it! Is attaching the extension to the existing brake line something I can do myself... are special tools necessary? If it's just a matter of bleeding the brakes, seems like a piece of cake? I'd love to save some cash if doing it myself is possible.
