Hi Daithi,
What are you doing with the original front end, lamps, clocks & mudguards ect ? I'm thinking of GSing my Roadster. Rgs Podmiester

He's boxing up the original body parts so one can assume he's keeping the other bits too.

These things are like hens teeth, got one anyway:
I also have the inside cover from a R1100R along with the rear brake system, unfortunately the only wheel I have that will fit it is from the same R1100R, but it'll have to do till I get a spoked wheel. ![]() I've ordered the Phosphor Bronze pivot bushing from Rubber Chicken and whe that arrives I'll bolt it all up and see how my alignment works out..... ![]() ![]() Next photo should be of the bike complete with disk brakes on the back.

Whoa ... That from an R1100? What year? Is it a bolt up? This one won't have the destructive shaft issue ... right? VERY COOL.

Are you gents saying this won't work ?
![]() I've put the drive on without bolting up and it looks ok, I can't see how the idea won't work, even the wheel alignment seems reasonably good ?

Are you replacing the swingarm as well? Are you just replacing the final drive assembly?

You had me scared there, I thought you knew something
I didn't. The drive is from a K1 and pairs perfectly with the original shaft. I'll put the inside cover from an 1100R final drive to allow me to use whe twin pot caliper. I'm relieved there's nothing you're aware of that would stop this from working. This should be a bolt up job with no machining apart from making up a shim for alignment purposes.

No I wasn't saying it couldn't be done. I think it has been done, what I was talking about was the drive shaft issues. That won't be taken care off.

I don't think this is being done for shaft longevity reasons. Daithi is following Phreaky Phil's lead in putting a rear disc on R100GS(ex-PD). He is using the KI final drive because that is the same generation as the R100GS paralever, & more particularly has the mounts to allow this.
