From the Aust Safari Supp Regs Page 33.
Recognised International Helmet Approval Marks:

Europe ECE 22-05 ’P’, ’NP’ or ’J’
USA SNELL M2010
Japan JIS T 8133:2007

The Suomy appears to carry DOT and ECE 22.05 so it should be OK.
Time for some homework. Good luck.

Hope it helps.

... and just as importantly, maybe Cyril now appreciates how difficult we find doing Dakar or FIM Rally's with the roadbook in French.

I 'spose I might go for a little ride in the countryside in September. My skin is mostly back together, a couple of bits of Titanium are holding my jaw in one piece, got my final Xrays of my hand at the hospital last Tuesday, so I must be good to go again!. I just have to shoot down to the supermarket and buy a can of fitness.
It looks like I'll be partying under the CPW Safari tent, sleeping in my borrowed swag and using up my stock of used tyres - hitting the budget approach this year.
Oh, and no worries about the 450 getting rusty - I polish it a bit every time I'm in the shed and it gets covered with cotton sheets to keep the dust off.

I was just checking out the supp regs for 2012.
Do you get the explanation of the abbreviations only when you receive the first days roadbook ?
I've seen, somewhere,an explanation of dakar abbreviations. Do the abbreviations change at all each year and are they similar to condo ones ?
Looking at the ones below I dont think Id back myself to get them right.

The only two I seem to consistently get wrong is the "RAR" and "RXR" (and their plural forms obviously of "RsAR" and RsXR"). I see a "RAR" and immediately think "Rut Across Road" and almost cark it when it turns out to be a "Rut Along Road". Sometimes I'm lucky and there'll be a "RXR" visible in the same road roadbook "window" to remind me of the difference!

Everything kind of falls into place by day 2 and you won't have any problems - if you ride at my pace anyway! I even found that things fall into place when I had to use the French FIM tulips and instructions at an FIM rally, so don't sweat it - just remember it in case you need an excuse for poor result later on.
