The upper most lake in this chain had really pretty turquoise waters!
 It's also home to the Joyce Estates.....Mr. Joyce, a businessman from Chicago made a fortune up here in the timber industry and built a huge private resort that could only be accessed by float plane. This was back in the 1920s and it even had it's own golf course! In the 70s one of his descendents donated the property to the state of MN....you can only get here via the lake. There are several buildings still standing including the main dining hall.  It appears to still see some use.

 Some of the pics I just posted aren't showing up for me? (should be at least 3 pics in each post)....I'll take a break and see if they reappear or not before trying to edit....it may be a memory issue with my machine or maybe smuggy has the hicups?  edit...looks to be an isp problem (public wifi) ...it looks OK on 3G

 ...a picnic on a sandy beach at camp sites only accessible by water....  ...new friends....

No pics at all on Tuesday....and I even rode the moto.
 Wednesday.....in the land of my ancestors, downtown Oylen, MN.

Thursday was the day to say goodbye to family and start the trek home......with a stop at the Central ADV Rally in Wisconsin.
By lunch time I had caught up with some showers....so....I stopped for lunch!   Looking across the bay towards the Apostle Islands....  Pan just a little bit to the right and you get a view of the beautiful city of Ashland.

I had a clear run to Ironwood where the showers were once again looming large in front of me.
What to do?.... Take a scenic ride back up to the shore where the is bright enough to cast a shadow...that's what!   Little Girls Point  Saxon Harbor

I made it a point to go back and ride the K road when it was dry!
   Got to Eagle River and had my tent set up just before another shower rolled in.
