Another one down..

Driving past Northway Mall tonight about 9pm I saw a rider sprawled on the sidewalk, unresponsive and bleeding from the mouth/nose. He was mid-30s, with buzz-cut brown hair. Bystanders had covered him with coats and picked up his bike, a small (250cc?) blue Yamaha SM. I didn't notice a helmet. A truck was stopped with flashers on, blocking the lane. I don't know if it was a 2-vehicle accident or not.

Police and ambulance showed up while I was still holding for the 911 operator, so I stayed out of their way and moved on down the road.

.

.

Be careful, all.

Sad and unfortunate.

Gear up people. Dress like mad max going off to do Tina Turner.

Wear a helmet n stuff.

Thoughts to the poor feller whom crashed. Life changing event right there. Easy enough to get smacked by someone in a car or truck, and also to dump one's self over unexpectedly in sand, oil, rain or in some situation one was not immediately prepared for... with or without other traffic,
it happens quick.

I used to escort military funerals on a Road King. Lots of close calls with the public.... even with red lights and occasionally a siren, people off in their own world...

One was killed Tuesday by a left turner in Juneau. Pretty sad story & all to familiar. Sounds like he tried to get out of the way at the last second. Read it....

I don’t wear bright clothes. If I see an oncoming car that appears about to make a left in front of me or one about to enter from the side I start swerving back & forth across clear across most of my lane. Makes for a noticeable target instead of one oncoming light that could be missed if it’s just standing still. I have seen a couple cars suddenly come to an abrupt halt after starting to make a move.
Don’t run with your high beams on. It is a fact that that makes it harder for ‘them’ to judge your distance or speed. Extra lights do seem to help you be seen though.
Don’t ride in the right lane! You can not be seen as well by anyone entering from the right. You also have a wider & better view of the whole road from the second lane from the ‘curb’ & things aren’t as likely pop out right in front of you.
You know, things like cars, trucks, kids, kids on bikes, dumbasses that walk out in the road without even looking up, dogs, cats, bears, trains, planes, boats, & MOOSE.
Watch your six at stop lights. Stop where you are aimed at a place you can jump to if they ain’t stoppin’. Flash your brake light, maybe move a leg around.

You have to have, must have, the mindset that you are invisible & even if they do see you they will still do their damnedest to try to run you down. They are all out to get you.

Yeah. Really gotta watch your six when having to sit & wait for traffic so you can make a left. Hate that.
Heavy oncoming traffic. Big truck comin’ from way behind me. Now I see his back tires smokin’, getting’ a little crossed up.
ZOOM! Up the road I go to make a U-turn.

Surprised you remembered that. I must have told a good story.

Words to LIVE by. Be prepared, brothers and sisters. Swinging a leg over a motorcycle is one of the biggest risks you can take in life. I want to see your smiling faces at the next stop. I want to see your next humorous post.

Don't just dress to protect from abrasion, dress for IMPACT!

If you spent 1/2 as much on riding gear as you spent on bling and farkles.....

See you out there. Summer is almost over. Parking at the fair is easier on a bike!

If your out there without a heightened awareness, almost "super" heightened your numbers gonna come up sooner then those that are! I sincerely anticipate the worst at every intersection, on/off ramp, question every line of traffic. Take away from the ride, a bit, maybe, part of the ride for me.
Even so shits happens and some were just lucky to get out of alive. At times.

Parking at the fair yeah if you see that big yellow and blue train parked. Come by and say hello. Looks like I get some sweet duty tomorrow.
