PLEASE NOTE: MILITARY PASS IS TERRIBLE THIS YEAR. DEEP SAND. tHE CORRECT BIG BIKE BYPASS IS AS FOLLOWS:

Hey Hobbes,

The military pass road bypass I suggested around the sand earlier turns out to be in terrible shape this year; I just got back from riding it and it is NOT a viable bypass around the sand section. The lifted, lockered F350 stuck in one patch was a clue...

If you take Deer Mtn Road (FR 19) off hwy 97, and stay on FR19, it'll turn to dirt a few miles after leaving the highway and lead you quite nicely to FR 31, where you can pick up the loop.

Sorry for the misinformation; stuff changes...

Steve

Here's the big bike bypass around the sand sections on the NE side of the mountain.

This is a dual sport route and will of course have some soft or rocky or whatever spots, but this will route you around the worst of the sand. Conditions may vary with season and traffic but there's nothing here I wouldn't ride on my 990 loaded.

This track picks up at the intersection of FR31 and FR19 and takes you into Weed. After Weed, there's no splits for the big bikes as none are needed.

Steve

PS-sections like this are the reason for the bypass. If this looks fun, take the original route or the Military pass alternate...
