James Bay Trans-Taiga Road August 8thish..

Hello all:
I've been here before but was banned for having a mind of my own.

Marrakesh Red

I'm taking a trip to the Quebec Hydro stations in August.
TRANS-TAIGA ROAD Camping along the way.

Anyone interested?

trans taiga a pretty cool ride.

make sure you have the fuel situation worked out. 645km out and back to chisasabi from mirage. i got fuel at air saguanay, but they're not always open. mirage down to relais 381 is about 410km. you might get a splash of fuel at the cree outfitter, but they're not always open either. likewise, radisson to mirage is a hike. plan accordingly.

watch out for the soft sections in that road. i call them sand holes, and while found on almost all the northern gravel, there were plenty on the TT road last season when i rode it. some short, and some that went for 200m. these sections have put plenty of bikes down, beware.

safe travels.

Just finished reading this most excellent RR after reading your 2011 Bike Build and ongoing RR all in one session.Your way with words is so easy to read and I have to say so literate and informative.I have covered much of the territory that you so ably describe that I really enjoyed it all again when seen through your eyes.

Thanks for taking us along. John

yikes, ya have some time on your hands. glad you enjoyed it.

here's Scooter Boy...

i could have written a page on this guy. i think he was riding around on the scooter with all those pin-on LED lights flashing in the hope of attracting enough alien attention to be beamed up. cops probably have him by now.

he snuck up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder, holy crap, glad that scooter was a little small for carrying a chainsaw.

I don't care if it has been almost a year since the last post to this thread:-) The bump might introduce someone else to your most excellent work.

Thanks again for taking the time to take us along.

yeah, let's catch up.

did you get that feeling of transition as you crossed back into the States, as I wrote, "different country, different life"?

the border is a demarcation line in so many ways.

I'm grateful for the bump, it looks like I'll be taking the Trans Lab to NFLD to visit some friends next summer.

Thanks for taking the time to write up this thread.

you're welcome. take some time on the Trans Lab, Labrador is a destination in itself, but most riders blast through, treating it only as a transit route to Newfoundland. there's more there.

safe travels, enjoy your trip next year.

hmmmm, now i feel left out, disenfranchised...ancient, old as freakin' dirt, big as a freakin' bus, and my thinkin' tends to plumb, level, and square, except when provoked.

help, i must be lost in the proverbial wasteland, or somethin'.
