Just to really throw a cat among the pigeons, have you seen the KTM 1290R that's in pre-production testing?

OH_MY_GOD.

150 HP.

Oh Lordy Lord.....there's the making of a 3000 page tyre thread right there.

I've booked 2-up test rides with my Wife on R1200GS-A, and I'll be doing another KTM990R run 2-up. Preferably within a day or two of each other.

My salesman friend did mention the new F series in passing..."Oh, there's a new demo F800 and F700 coming in a couple of weeks...but you probably wont want to know about them...nothing much has changed".
The 990r looks like a sweet bike, a little tall for a noob like myself I think, but nice. It reminds me of the husqvarna Nuda 900r? Also, considering the lack of change in the 700/800 its not always a bad sign, but maybe just that they see no changes to make...take the baseball for example, not much change since late 1800s.

4 more HP, and like you say ... maybe different throttle response oh and slightly more aggressive gearing 42/17
I wonder if the suspension is actually different or if it's the same suspension (mechanically speaking),
with a control circuit dropped on top... ???

Are those F800s the low suspension version? If so how do they compare to your F650s What tipped you in favor of staying with BMW rather than moving to Triumph?

Nope regular height and there is only one 800 the other 2 are our 650's

What tipped us in favor of the BMW's versus the Triumphs? More bang for your buck, we have luggage we can transfer to the new bikes....savings of over $4000....LOVED the Triumph seats! Hate the BMW plank but it was a trade off. No handle bar controls on the Triumph more "modern" convenience on the Beemers. Also, we sat on the Triumphs before buying these bikes and did not feel them that day...but yeah those gel seats that Triumph sells....made us really think twice but BMW won. Also, 3 year warranty...this has prompted us to buy new bikes to begin with...our bikes are running out of their warranties.

If you see typos it's my phones fault!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet...
While I'm tall enough for the F800GS it might encourage writing checks I should not be trying to cash....
I'm waiting on a call from the dealership with some more numbers in it!

These Rxx GS pictures do look good..but if you look closely you can see that they are photo shopped by wonderlich.
There are some inconsistancies photo to photo.

If these are infact representative of the new big GS...I note that the oil pan is Much shallower than the old. by it seems acouple of inches. This means the bike could be lower by that amount and still have the same clearance....ie not so tall for us with short inseams. I hope there is a significant weight reduction too.

Could the get the big GS weight close to the F800?

I think that's mine!

Just saw the post on #282, the blue bike. If these pics are from the Eugene dealer on 8/25 then that's my machine. Absolutely love it. After riding a Road King for 10 years and before that a Husky 250 this is breath of fresh air.

Just got a set of TKC 80's yesterday, off to the hills. YA!!!
