Day trip over Hatcher Pass

Solo run, pretty uneventful. Not much rain to speak of. Pretty fun. Lunch at Willow Tradfing post and caramel caribou ice cream at Millers 100 mile round trip frm my house.
Teaser photo, more later!

Thanks That is taken at the top of the first hill on the Palmer side with the Independence Mine state park area in the background. The one bigger A-Frame on the right is a very nice little place to eat. It is about 20 miles from Palmer.

Near Summit Lake

Cool hiking trail zig zaging up up and away!

Side trail to old mining site buildings

A water crossing off the road I was tempted to take, but decided against it due to the fact no one was there to video me possiblyhitting a rock with my front tire and dumping it. The water was running pretty good and was almkst knee deep or deeper from what I could see.... The hazards of age and riding solo..

Taking a break a ways down the river

One bridge two bridge, old bridge new bridge

All good things must come to an end

Time for lunch at the Willow Trading Post

Then on to dessert at Millers

Then back to Palmer/home safe and sound

I kept saying to myself all during the ride "it's the JOURNEY not the destination.........Sometimes I find myself in such a hurry to get somewhere I don't really take the time to enjoy the ride. Mission accomplished today, FOR ONCE

Looks like a super fun trip! I might need to break out the bike and do that before the snow comes down too much further...

I hiked to the summit of the April Bowl area today, and saw a few DS bikes rolling through while I was up there. Snow hasn't encroached on the road yet, but it's not far off! Beautiful day today!!

Very nice pics. Hatchers Pass was still closed when I was trippng around AK in June. Sorry I missed it now.
That zig-zagging walking trail looks like a real heart starter.
