PULL OFF THE TRAIL WHENEVER YOU STOP! (chat, adjust roll chart, etc)... I'll let somebody else post the video.

Pull off the trail and wait. Lots of traffic, riders trying to get off the desert before dark...

YES. PULL OFF TO THE SIDE ANYTIME YOU STOP. THERE IS A LOT OF DUST AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S COMING UP BEHIND YOU.

PULL OFF- ALWAYS
AND DON'T RIDE OVER YOUR HEAD IN DUST! It's not a race so you don't need to be riding bonzai with only your front fender visible to you in the dust. An ol' boy was riding in the dust a few years back at the Sierra Safari in Mammoth and ran right into the back of the parked gas truck, breaking his arms. senseless

So technically the guy who did the rear ending is at fault. How does this play out legally? It wasn't a blind corner?

space it out. and leave early. pass slower riders with caution.
generally, LAB2V isn't that bad with the dust. there are just a few sections of powerline roads that are silt/gravel and they're in the morning when a lot of riders are clustered together. it opens up later. keep a good pace and take few breaks and you'll be good. you are racing daylight, so don't loligag. sunrise is around 6:30AM and sunset is around 4:30PM, but with all the mountains/hills, it's dark by 4:00. with that said, make sure you headlight/tail light work well. 3 years ago I was in dune buggy/truck woops on the way into Barstow, and the headlight was worthless. sand-sky-sand-sky-sand-sky you get the picture. miles of it. ![]() Day 2 has a section with 17 miles of deep sandwash. deep. keep you speed up and throttle through it.

True story, a few years back a guy rode straight at me, going the wrong way on a narrow track, flagged me down. "Did you see a guy back there on a Honda?" Only about 200 of them, you bonehead! ![]() Edit: Also, a wet bandana makes a good dust mask.
