Jim, they do make them in GS sizes and I've heard that a few people really like them. Interesting to hear the TA's are good on pavement as well! I'd be curious how they compare... one can only think the RA's are even better.

I've run the Conti Road Attacks on the track with my GS many times. I've also recently had a chance to run some of the new RA2's on the street (no track time yet). I find the RA2's to the be stickiest rubber you can find in GS sizes. However, I have since gone back to the regular RA's, as they are quite a bit cheaper than the new RA2's. Here's a shot of RA's on my 07 12GS at Laguna Seca.

ShaftEd,
Awesome! Thanks for your input... sounds like the RA's are a good option!

killer shot, but i'd be scared to track these things without some sort of engine protection.

But wouldn't crash bars limit ground clearance?

Yes they do. I've ground on mine in both directions at the track. At one point I went off-road because I couldn't physically make the turn...crash bars in the way.

Hmm looks like some pretty reasonable clearance to the cylinder heads without crash bars on. I wonder if it would help to crank my ride height up a little bit as well.

True on cranking up the right height. I have Ohlins with stiffer springs on my GS, plus the rear shock is fully adjustable with ride height adjustment. I have added a few mm's. As I've done trackdays on the GS, I realized the front end needed a bit more weight on it. So with the stiffer springs and the rear shock slightly longer my standard GS is pretty darn tall. On the track, I can just nick the foot pegs, but the centerstand doesn't hit.
