It is a pretty bleak day for me today. I had a crash in a race just about a week ago and injured my knee. It didn't seem too bad at the time but I just got back from seeing the doctor and reviewing the MRI. I did some rather serious mangling of various tendons and it is going to require surgery then probably 9 months before I can be racing again. With the Tuareg being only about 6 months away this means I am out.

Hate to hear this news Doug. You've got YEARS of riding and racing ahead though so heal up right and we'll see you back on trail!! You've inspired a lot of folks already and we're still rooting for you!

Noooo! that sucks Doug, heal well & I'm sure you'll be able to give it a go for '13...

The only drawback I can see is that this one would have looked sweet on the resume submitted for Dakar in '15

Awwww shit Doug.....I hate to hear this. I know you can't race for 9 months, but what about just riding??? By the way, Docs can be wrong. Look into alternative stuff, and see if you can get back into it before the 9 months. I believe it's possible. So, ACL torn, meniscus tear?

Talk to Dave, there is a little 2,000 mile rally called the Sertoes in August that will be a great replacement.

RMS has room for one more rider to join us. We have a great group going, including Charlie (lastplace), Sid, Dirk, and Jean-Luc.

We have all the shipping (to/from Oakland, CA) and logistics worked out. We also have a sponsor for the team, which is making this an even more affordable proposition.
