The Prez really said nothing, it was no-facts, double-speak.

If he is the primary person responsible for the turnip truck, DucAudi needs to show this guy the door. IMHO

These are the things I think we learned about the Factory/Junior Team Strategy from this interview:

1. Ducati will field two teams with two factory spec bikes each.
2. All four motorcycles will be supported by factory engineering.
3. All riders will be called upon to develop the motorcycle and share data.
4. All riders will have access to the latest development parts.
5. The factory hired the riders directly.
6. The strategy is intended to speed development.
7. Financial constraints have been diminished to support the gamble.

These are all things we speculated about, but the Filippo interview clarified the plan and the thinking that went into it. I think that is a lot and certainly not a waste of my time reading it.

Four competitive riders piloting four factory spec machines and sharing data. To my way of thinking, this is a far more aggressive step than we've witnessed before. Even the 3 Repsol plus Simoncelli effort wasn't concieved with such a singular objective. That was more about giving a rising star a decent shot and handling a contract dispute with Dovi.

Anyways, I am highly optimistic and as Nicky stated once, I'm "All In".

I'm going to dust off my old Desmo and give her some new love. Go Nick! Go Dovi! Go Ben! and I can hardly wait to see how Crazy Joe emerges!

+1 (except that I don't have an old Desmo to dust off )
Sounds like you are one of the few that actually read that interview.

This coming from a guy who makes #$&*% statements like Nicky is just riding around collecting a check and not trying.

I've never said anything derogatory about Nick Hayden. I've never heard anybody question his effort either. You must have me mixed up with somebody else.

One addition to Pantah's thoughts: I felt Prez was kind of saying that since the Pramac riders will be official Ducati Corse riders, it may not be embarassing for them to beat the factory team, since they are all one big team.

Kind of reading between the lines there.

No doubt about your 'between the lines' reading in my view. But we all know that if they actually have the success they hope for, it might not be so easy down the stretch no matter what they say now. This is an interesting development with the rules people apparently assisting in the background. But is wise and we all hope Prez can move the dial for us fans. I think he will!

But first lets see budding success with their gamble...

The naysayers are everywhere...

Had Honda kept Dovizioso they just might have won the championship.

You don't think the factory Honda is faster than the second string Yamaha?
Moaner and Pedrosa are faster but Dovi is more consistent.
He would kick their ass with total points.

Pedro's been very consistent this year.. only Jorge is even more. Both taken down by some baboon once, so 1 DNF each, and those have been no fault of their own.

Bold goals, no doubt. However, supplying four riders with advanced parts on an accelerated basis is more than a"loosening of financial constraints", it would require copious irrigation of all parts of their ecosystem with liquid Euros.

It will be exponentially more difficult to analyse the inputs of four riders (each of whom believes he is God's gift to motorcycles and engineers) and choose a direction. How a culture which provides a frame update every 6 months (with essentially one development rider) is going to scale up to providing multiple updates to four riders in less than half that time will be something to watch!

Until then, its feel-good PR.
