+1. Use a bore-scope, look for damage, locate magnet, removed if possible. When done, start engine without #2 plug and let it blow out other bits. Install new plug and ride.

Had a 280zx Turbo once. DPO had gutted turbo and installed nut, bolt and washer to block opening between intake and exhaust sides of turbo. Knocking noise in engine, nut fell off, plug beat up, left plug out, ran engine, bits flying out, knock gone. new plug and engine ran decent. Got rebuilt turbo cartridge, installed, car ran perfect.

Well, there is a bent intake valve(s)!

I am in the process of clearing out enough garage space to pull the motor and tear into it. I should get the motor out this weekend and maybe start to disassemble it. I can't find the electronic copy of the shop manual so I'm kind of easing into it.

Found a low mileage Daytona engine, any reason not to do it?

Daytona is 149hp vs 104 in the Tiger

From a thread I read on Tigertriple, a gent swapped in a Daytona trans and his shift pattern was reversed (1 up-5 down)...Daytona uses a linkage shift that reverses the pattern back?

use the search function on tigertriple

use the keyword "daytona" lots to read

read metalguru's reply to your thread on tigertriple

you WILL lose that lovely flat torque curve of the tiger though, she'll be pretty touchy off road

Thanks Mustang; I'm a little reluctant to jump on the Daytona motor. I'm really not in the appropriate mindset to go through the gyrations of a motor swap/graft. It also hard to image 149 hp in the dirt and gravel as the Kitty is a handful as she sits.
I planned on pulling the motor yesterday but spent in at the hospital with my dad....So, I still need to get the motor out and the head off.

So there is at least one bent intake valve and minimal other damage; Ducky says stick in 4 new valves....

Going to flip the head and do a leak test as I would really like to replace as little as possible. It's interesting the differences in the cylinder carbon levels between cylinder three versus one and two. I think the number one plug was loose as well.

Anyhow, ordering parts Monday!

A moment of silence for your loss of compression....

Looking good. New valves, a little lapping compound and away you go.

Say, I was just admiring the inside of your engine there.

The oil, what kind does she use?

Glad to see you digging in to it Chuck, really glad it's no worse than it looks. Hey? Wonder if a Hi-ABUSE-a engine'll fit in there?

I know I'm late to the party. A friend broke a plug off in his DR350. I had to drill it
out. I then used a gas line size hose duct taped to a shop vac to suck the the crap
out of the top end. I also would flush it with gas. Worked pretty good.
We didn't have to pop the head of and it's still running today.
