I will pick Hector, Josephine and Emiliano up at the Memphis airport at 6:05PM today! This is the friends that I have stayed with a couple of times in Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico. I talked with Hector a few minutes ago, they are in the airport at Mexico City waiting for their flight to leave for Houston, Texas and then on to Memphis. I am very happy to extend to them, some of the hospitality that they have extended to me!

We will be doing some riding while they are here! It won't be as good as the riding we did in the mountains of Mexico, but we will ride what we got!

Shoes don't hurt that bad, but if she reaches for the molcajete, vaya por la puerta con prisa! (Or so I hear)

Chiltepin

First day of fall and vendors are stopping by selling red chiltepin peppers. Hot little suckers,

Soon ristras of chile colorado will be drying on roofs and hung in doorways.

Great time to ride in Sonora.

Am sitting in Bandera, TX today getting Schlitz faced. Heading up North in a few days. You Border and Mexican travelers need to be scared ;)

Seriously, I hope to have time in a few weeks to ride to the Border. After that if the gate guarding gig holds there should be plenty of riding ops.

SR sent me a link to the bicycle run on the Espinazo to Mazatlán.

That would be insane fun. I finished the Conquer the Coast 65 miler on the recumbent trike today in Corpus Christi - so downhill on that from the top of the ridge to the seashore would be a hoot.

Sometimes in Mexico you can find guys in the middle of absolute nowhere in packs riding their bikes from who-knows-where to who-knows-where. Hats off to those guys.

Is Mexico Safe?????????

Listen, I have heard a few reports and some talk about Mexico but, since planning my ride I have been overwhelmed with this negativity. Two people have gone as far as to call me a fool to my face. Now really there are alot of things I could have done with the winter months,...snow bird to Florida or just grin and bear it, watch alot of TV and see the world on a flatscreen. But I am an adventurer. Always have been.

So, now I will give it one more chance to find someone with something positive to say about riding solo thru Mexico on a Honda Shadow.

thanks from Oklahoma

Is the ferry still operating in Eagle Pass? If so I want to cross there in about two weeks.
