My first long ride N. Ca/ Or
I bought this bike (640 adv) from the late great Chad Burroughs with the intent to get out and adventure. I've always ridden dirt bikes, raced several desert races, a few motocross and all my buddys are racers. So when I bought this bike and went to show it off, I got "That thing looks heavy" and "What a pig, you cant do anything on that bike". Nobody could see the light. I've since converted 3 of them to the duelsport thing with more to come for sure. Actually this bike has proved to be a nimble ride. I've tanken it place it probably should'nt have gone, but I'm hear today.
So I started out for my first multiple day ride from home. I used the Benchmark maps, mapsource and my old e trex to put the routes together. I did this solo, and packed way... way too much stuff. I've since invested in a Giantloop bag and some lightweight supplies.
First. New shoes.
The shove off early on a Mon. morning.
Went through Susanville and on to the dezz.
Ca/Nv line at Wendel. Nv.. they dont waste tax $$ on payvement
Smoke Creek Dez.
This is the line of cars backed up for several miles on the black rock dez trying to leave the burning man. There was so much traffic in and around Gerlac. I camped with some burners later this night and they said the spent 7 hours in this line trying to leave.
More line. It went on forever. And theres a good 5 wide in line.
Plya on the highway
And then I was alone
But not totally alone
Found this by accident
Its wide open out here
Up out of Cedarville heading west.
Lookin east over Cedarville and Nv.
A fun one
Came out to 395 and this plum orchard/winery
This is after Lakeview going into the Freemont forest
Ended day 1 at Summer lake hot spring... With all the traveling burners. This was like a mini burningman festival. I dug this place
Sunrise in the dez. My favorite. Woke up and went straight to the hot pool. Still folks rolling in from waiting in that line
Looking down on summer lake or. Back into the freemont forest
way above Summer lake
I went into Silver Lk for breakfast and on to Hole in the ground,or.
Fun roads in central Or
Bags of pine cones. I know where the pine cones come from
The future of our national forests.
Central Or is bitchin.
Bend. Bought an extra rain coat cause the skies were changing
Between bend and Sisters.
Neat country, and fun roads... Even with the kitchen sink strapped to the back
Made it. Detroit lk.
A little wet so I sprung for a heater
Rained all night, glad I got the room. Looked good in the AM though
Oops, a little over my skis on this one. No injuries on damage. I did pop all the little cramers in my pocket that the waitress gave me.
The bronze section
Dead Indian rd. Going into Ashland
Camped here in Ashland. Another hot pool. You pay $10 to camp and get to use the hot pool and sauna and showers. I Like this place too.
Day 4 AM looking at Shasta
Modoc national forest
Wind mills, Burney ca
More fun roads with nobody on them. I was blessed
Above Mineral, Ca
High Bridge, Feather river. Almost home
End of ride.
