Anybody else find it odd that there has been so little info online about the F700GS
since the July 2nd announcement? US BMW doesn't even have pricing on their site. I don't expect the mags to have tests yet, but after three months you would expect some online tests to start appearing.

Thanks for that pricing link! General: Somehow I glazed over on the "comfort seat" option .... has that been discussed / pictured and I missed it? |

I do find it weird no one has a first ride report yet on either of the new Beemers.

Pretty sure I'm picking up a F700GS Thursday. It's a 230 km ride home, so I'll have some impressions by the time I get home. The shop also has a 1200GS.....always thought they were too tall...but if they have a low seat (31") I might be headed home on that instead....ya just never know.

skysailor: I have an '11 F650GS (13K miles) and an '09 R1200GS (35K miles). I am 5'8", 170 pounds with a 29" inseam.
The F650GS has been modified with Ricor valves in the forks and an aftermarket shock in the rear and this improved the the bike a lot. I also raised the forks a tad (4mm) to shift a little more weight up front. I can flat foot the bike and it is a really nice ride with what I think is a great motor. When on dirt roads I think that first gear is a little too high and have to use the clutch a fair amount. Very easy and satisfiying bike to ride though. The R1200GS has a Sargent Low seat that is a great improvement for me. I can't flat foot but I don't exactly tippy toe either. The R1200 is probably about 60 pounds heavier than the F650GS but it carries the weight low and is really easy to ride including on dirt roads. Of the two bikes I honestly prefer the R1200. Try both the F700GS and the R1200 and keep an open mind.

![]() If I upgrade from my F658GS to the 700, I'll order the comfort seat for $145 I think it is ... then figure out whether to keep my Sargent or the comfort with the new bike! |

I was waiting for the local dealer to call me back with the list of options/prices, which they did not have when I was in the shop... Well ... now that PatrickM has posted the link to BMW of SF's web site I guess I need to get on it or find a new stalling tactic ...

I doubt dealers will have trouble moving these 700 & 800s at msrp.
soph9, was the $500 off the bike, options, accessories or all of the above?
