7 day loop Southern Italy, 1st week November

I've got to do some business in Rome in November, so my wife and I will be arriving in Rome on 11/1, returning to Rome on 11/9. It's not a lot of time, but all I can manage for this trip. We've done several self-guided motorcycle trips in Europe, including northern Italy, but we've never been south of Napoli. We would love to rent motorcycles in Rome and do a loop down south. I'm concerned about the time of year and the possibility of a lot of rain.

I've read through all of the posts I could find regarding Sicily and southern Italy. It sounds like a great place to ride. I would appreciate any advice and route suggestions, as well as the most current recommendations on rental agencies.

Shouldn't be difficult to rent a bike in Rome.
Weather will vary, but anyway won't be rainy for more than a couple days or too cold.
My advice is to ride from Rome to Naples , do the Amalfi/Sorrento corniche ride and then take the overnight ferry from Naples to Catania http://www.tttlines.com or Salerno-Messina http://www.carontetourist.it
Sicily is beautiful, and in november is usually still possible to swim into sea... do a 2-3 days round trip of Sicily and then back north following the Calabria coast ...

If you like it, will get more info for you

Thanks, GiorgioXT! I was wondering about either doing a 1-way bike rental (CMIT) and flying back, or looking into the ferry option. Our flight from the states arrives at 7AM into FCO, so we have plenty of time to pick up the bikes and head down to Amalfi/Positano, right? I've ridden from Rome to Naples on the autostrada and it only took a couple of hours. I've not been further south, however. How long would it take to ride kup the Calabria coast?
