his price is still cheaper than the safari. I sold my safari to get this tank because I don think KTM did it right with the tiny tank and safari has a purpose but everytime I rode with mine I was always wishing for a six gallon tank. If you have a colored safari its hard to tell where 6 gal is until you are at 7 gallons in. Tank is just to large. The only place I see the safari as an advantage is alask or deep into mexico. Im stoked to get mine and looking forward to an easy to remove tank with a narrower profile further forward. That and not dealing with the lame side plastics. |

OK I think I'm sold...this is the perfect capacity tank and the quick removal is key to the optional filter setups. I do want to know about the CPR filter (dome version) compatibility though and will keep watching here since you indicated you would check that out.

I did speak with Chris at CPR Fabrication and he confirmed that not only will the dome style SE filter fit underneath our new tank, but the standard style (non-dome) filter can now be used. This means you can also opt for the highly recommended outer filter as well. If you do choose the use the standard style filter with our new fuel tank, you will no longer be required to cut-down your velocity stacks to clear the inner housing. .

Does the tank require any mods to the SE frame? I'm mainly concerned about any interference between the tank and the shroud brackets on the frame.

Great another option is available ( I know it takes a lot of work), but too bad it doesn't accept the stock seat.

I got my seat in the mail a week ago and just did a 2-1 and installed the cjdesigns fuel cell. Can't wait for this tank to get here.

Pattern making is a long process, but things are moving right along... note we've lowered the filler tower by half an inch, and beveled the radiator wings. Also integrated the front of the seat into the filler tower for a better transition.

I like the lower fill tower. Not much capacity to be gained in that area anyway. Any details of how this tank fits with the Scotts Stabilizer tower? Also, any chance the tank will provide a little better protection for the radiator in a tip over? My falls on the SE always seem to be at slow speeds (ride faster, I know!) and one of those slow speed tip overs tweaked my bottom radiator mount with the stock tank on.

Thanks, we're continuing to make it better and better. The tank is clearanced for the Scotts tower and pretty much anyones tower. I myself run the new Scotts rubber isolated under-mount and there's plenty of room. We've even added additional clearance for the triple clamps to allow a tighter turning radius for those that ditch the stock clamps. The tank offers significantly more radiator protection than the stocker. By eliminating the tank panels and adding additional angles to the leading edge, we've manage to stiffen up the radiator area quite a bit. Additionally, the side mounts are now lower and further forward to help support the tank wings in a crash. And just for the fun of it, we included additional clearance for the radiator cap so you no longer have to worry about knocking the reservoir hose off when you drop the bike. All good stuff... .
