The problem I had was how open the sites were, few trees, and they were pretty closely spaced. But it is what it is, you know? It's walking distance to the beach and boat ramp. I don't think privacy is most people's main concern at that campground.

Lol, yeah, that's pretty much it. For as much water as there was running down the trail, it didn't get too slippery. At least not for my bike with the K60's. Aaron's Vstrom had less aggressive tires, but he only had a problem at the one point on the rocks.

Thanks for the RR. I'm just up the road from you in St. George. Looks like a fun ride you and your son just did. I can't wait until my 14 year old is old enough to start riding with me on Adventures like you just did. He has been riding dirt bikes since he was 5 and is excited to do some overnight stuff. Not sure if I want him out there at 16 riding street but I already know he is gonna be bugging me to let him go. I would love to do it but not sure his mother will be happy about it. She barely even likes him riding his YZ 125..

Now go shopping... With a bike like you have you should be able to pack a 3 man tent with no issues and have lots of room and comfort. No reason to sleep in a tent that small. For me if I can't be comfortable I'm not camping... I'm not a minimalist though like alot of the ADV guys are..

For the camping vs. motel thing, I have given this some thought. The motel night can be more convient and "maybe" more enjoyable -but- you can not always get a room when and where you want it. In high use areas you need to have a reservation and that may not fit your travel plans for that day. In other words your days travels are dictated by where you are spending the night. Depending on your mind set camping can be great or a PITA. Rain can be a challenge and that can be taken two ways. I live in the southwest and with all of the wide open country you would think finding a camp site woud not be a challenge. Not always so. Depending on where you are even primative, just off the road places are a long way apart. I would rather camp but some nights a motel room is just screaming for me. Good luck on your quest.

Wonderful ride report. I really enjoyed it

My take on camping and bikes. Gear tends to weigh quite a bit so I mostly prefer to do my 'camping' in motels to save weight. On my old KLR I used to ride for days with just a backpack full of clothes.....

Great report, thanks for posting. I enjoyed your rather laconic style of writing. Kind of reminds me of parade ground commands. (I was in the army too, a long time ago).

Finally, your few pics of Zion National Park are just stunning. Will be sure to visit there on our trip next year.

Then he set his tarp up over the whole thing so he wouldn't get wet. I didn't get a picture, but it was a good set up.

I am an Army Master Sergeant, so I did what we do. Drank coffee and made fun of the kid.
